Portland Police Chief Literally Cries Admitting: DHS Was Right — Tren de Aragua Ties in CBP Shooting

Portland Police Chief Bob Day became visibly emotional—wiping away tears and choking up—at a Friday press conference as he confirmed what the Department of Homeland Security had asserted from the outset: the two Venezuelan nationals shot by Border Patrol agents in self-defense the day prior have confirmed ties to the violent gang Tren de Aragua (TdA).

We're just going to warn you about the video below. Not because of language or violent imagery. But because of the absolute shame you'll feel watching this man sob because he has to admit to "my Latino community" that DHS was right.

In fact, he confesses to hesitating to reveal the information because of a so-called "historic injustice of victim blaming" by law enforcement.

Turn in your badge, Chief. On two counts. One for being a raging beta male and two, for deceiving the public by not providing the facts of the case. That is negligence and gross misconduct. And just flat-out gross.

It's hard to believe that is a real police chief conducting a real press conference, and not some cheap SNL sketch. But alas.

"What I can say is there is an association with the two folks yesterday and TdA," Day admits. "I hesitated to even share this information initially because I'm very aware of the historic injustice of victim blaming often times portrayed by law enforcement."

"Historic injustice of victim blaming." Was his soul overtaken by AOC mid-presser? Oh, and it's a good thing DHS at least reported the facts. We wouldn't want the media to run with a fake narrative about the TdA animals simply being a "married couple" or something. Wait, what? CNN already did that?

Back to Chief Day: Watch as he contorts himself into knots that would make Simone Biles envious, making sure the media knows he didn't want to admit this information at all.

"I want to speak for just a moment specifically to my Latino community," he continues, choking back tears.

"It saddens me that we even have to qualify these remarks because I understand or at least have attempted to understand your voices, your concern, your fear, your anger," Day says, wiping away tears. "This information, in no way, is meant to disparage or to condone or support or agree with any of the actions that occurred yesterday."

Day mentions staying "committed to the facts" just moments after admitting he didn't want to share those facts. How does this person become a police officer, let alone a chief of the department? Just an absolute embarrassment.

Two people (Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras) were stopped by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Portland on Thursday. Upon realizing they were dealing with federal law enforcement, Moncado reportedly weaponized his vehicle, which seems to be the go-to tactic these days, attempting to run over the agents. One of the agents, fearing for his life, fired off shots in defense. Both suspects remain hospitalized in stable condition and are in federal custody.

DHS would later report that the two individuals were TdA-affiliated, leading to the shameful admission above.

RedState's Jennifer Oliver O'Connell reported that Chief Day initially went out of his way to note that his police department wasn't involved in the immigration enforcement actions.

"This is not in any way, shape, or form immigration-related on our end," he said.

We got it. Sanctuary for all criminals in the blue city. We wouldn't want you to have to do your job or anything, Bob. You'd probably cry about it.
