CBS was forced to overhaul its "Face the Nation" interview format after a segment featuring Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem prompted accusations that it was deceptively edited.
Noem, this past weekend, appeared on the show to discuss facts related to the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case. Her comments about the many crimes Garcia is accused of somehow made it to the cutting room floor, and Noem quickly accused the network of trying to "whitewash the truth."
Noem was able to post the unedited portion of her comments alongside what was aired by the network. The manipulation - an apparent attempt to sanitize Garcia's sketchy past to keep the "Maryland Dad" narrative they so adore - was on full display.
"CBS shamefully edited the interview to whitewash the truth about this MS-13 gang member and the threat he poses to American public safety," Noem wrote on X.
This morning, I joined CBS to report the facts about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Instead, CBS shamefully edited the interview to whitewash the truth about this MS-13 gang member and the threat he poses to American public safety.

DIVE DEEPER: Monumental Media Malpractice: CBS Deceptively Edits Sec. Kristi Noem Interview
Among the excised portions of the interview were details that might sway the public into thinking, "Hey, maybe this isn't such an innocent dude after all." Such as alleged abuse of his wife, and Noem's assertions that he "solicited nude photos from minors."
But CBS didn't want its audience to hear that. They want them to keep thinking "Maryland Dad," not "abusive MS-13 gang member."
On Friday, the network responded to their blatant editing of the narrative by announcing new interview rules for "Face the Nation." From now on, they will only broadcast live or live-to-tape interviews.
"In response to audience feedback over the past week, we have implemented a new policy for greater transparency in our interviews," a network spokesman told Fox News Digital. "‘Face the Nation’ will now only broadcast live or live-to-tape interviews (subject to national security or legal restrictions)."
"This extra measure means the television audience will see the full, unedited interview on CBS, and we will continue our practice of posting full transcripts and the unedited video online."
Airing unedited footage without biased cuts to promulgate a particular narrative - what a concept, guys and gals.

And in case anyone is under the assumption that CBS was quick to correct the matter of deceptive editing, remember that this comes on the heels of the network paying a massive - MASSIVE - settlement after they did the same thing in an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris to make her appear more polished as a candidate ... back in July 2024.
Paramount Global, CBS's parent company, settled the lawsuit for $16 million, paid to Trump's future presidential library.
Did they finally learn their lesson this time around?
