The Labor Day weekend delivered no shortage of dysfunction to be seen in the press. The time off was spent by many speculating that President Trump had passed away. The cause for much of this is that the very people who complain the most that Trump keeps flooding the zone with actions, news conferences, and other things they declare are distractions, were now overreacting that he was not available for a few days of a holiday.
The media that were always content with Joe Biden calling a lid and taking more time off than any president ever were suddenly bothered by a couple of days of inactivity.
Also seen on Sunday was CBS News caught in another case of deceptively editing an interview. This time it was with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and the network saw fit, in a discussion about Abrego Garcia, to remove the section where Noem detailed all of the illegalities Garcia has on his rap sheet. Apparently, those violations and the deportation orders interfere with their “Maryland father” narrative.
And then we close out by looking at how the press does not want to look into crime data. CNN was both accurate and dismissive about the gun violence in Chicago, reporting on the dozens of shootings over the weekend, but at the same time, trying to sell this as not a big deal. We bring the data to blow up that line of defensive reporting.
Now, crack one open and savor some outmoded media malpractice and misinformation.

Brianna Keilar tries to shrug off 56 shootings taking place in Chicago over the course of the weekend.
The uncomfortable data regarding gun murders that Brianna and the press do not want to address: Chicago is the leader by a wide margin.
Note @CNN and @BriKeilar deflect for Dem politicians and by default argues against fighting gun violence in Chicago.

She dismisses 56 shootings in one weekend and displays how Chicago is not on the list of top crime rates.
For gun homicides, that city is far and away the leader. https://t.co/ABZ487lybp pic.twitter.com/NYdhrt2xkD
