Town Fined $15,000 for Refusing to Celebrate Pride Month, Mayor Forced to Undergo Human Rights Training

The small town of Emo, Ontario, and its mayor, Harold McQuaker, have been fined a collective $15,000 for deciding not to celebrate Pride Month or fly the rainbow flag in 2020. The Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario handed down the ruling late last month.

The town is being fined $10,000, while McQuaker had his own $5,000 fine tacked on. He was also ordered, alongside the CAO, to complete human rights training.

The issue began when Borderland Pride, which describes itself as a "2SLGBTQIA+ Pride organization," requested Emo declare June as Pride Month and fly its little alphabet flag for a week.

The council in 2020 voted against doing that. And the organization's director, Daniel Judson, could only conclude it had everything to do with "sexual orientation and gender identity issues attached to pride."

Mayor McQuaker noted, however, that by making a special honor for one sexual orientation, you're actually discriminating against others.

“There’s no flag being flown for the other side of the coin…there’s no flags being flown for the straight people," he said.

This is true, but apparently, the Tribunal pinpointed the comment as demeaning and discriminatory.

The assault on Emo is clearly an example of government overreach run amok in Canada, an example of compelled speech where a small, rural community is forced into symbolic acts that might not align with their collective beliefs or traditions.

It's Orwell's 1984 playing out before your very eyes. Is it any wonder Donald Trump is pondering making Canada the 51st state?

And lest we think it can't get any worse for our neighbors to the north in having beliefs forced upon them, recall, if you will, that protesters during the pandemic in Canada were threatened with the seizure of their vehicles, fines, and revocation of their licenses.

Children were used as pawns. Authorities even threatened to seize truckers’ pets under the guise of being for the animal’s safety.

Images emerged from the crackdown of an elderly woman along with others being trampled by police horses.

Trudeau and company will make sure you are in line with the collective mindvirus. Or else.

Just take a look at this quote from Judson on successfully harassing the small town for deciding they didn't want to celebrate Pride Month:

"It's not a great look for a rural community that is struggling to build its economy, to grow its population, and to attract and retain young people. So I'm optimistic that they're going to see this in a different light now that we're at the other side of this decision."

In other words, we know your citizens are struggling with the economy, but we're going to steal from them anyway. And you'd better see things differently going forward. Or else, my pal Mickey "No Thumbs" here is going to make you see the light.

Rainbow mafia at its finest.

Fortunately, McQuaker doesn't seem easily swayed. Instead, he offered a double-barrel middle finger response to the tribunal, Borderland Pride, and the rest of the alphabet coalition.

“I utterly refuse to pay the $5,000 because that’s extortion,” he told the Toronto Sun.

Judson predictably responded by overtly threatening the mayor.

“The orders are not optional as (McQuaker) will soon learn,” Judson further extorted. “We expect compliance."

Judson really, really wants the money from that fine. He has plans for it, and he said so in a letter to Emo's council.

“Borderland Pride will donate one-third of the financial compensation paid to us by the municipality directly to the Emo Public Library, on the condition that it host a drag story time event, free to all to attend, on a date of our choosing this year," he wrote.

It always comes back to the kids for some reason. Weird.
