Bill Clinton's deposition video in the Epstein case was released this week.

We gave you a preview of some of what he said, including that he said he saw nothing wrong and did nothing wrong during his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

But he did have a few surprising moments that we should note.

First, there was this incredible moment when he was asked if he had ever lied in a deposition or lied under oath.

Did he forget about Monica Lewinsky and the reason he was impeached? He's playing the "It depends upon what the meaning of 'is' is" game again.

Then there was this fascinating answer where he was asked about Jeffrey Epstein's 17 visits to the White House. He responds "no" to the question of whether he had any idea who Epstein was meeting there.

"Would you know who he was meeting with?" Clinton was asked. "No," Clinton said. "I didn't know he was coming."

He claimed he wasn't aware that he'd ever met Epstein while he was president.

What about those pictures that show him at the White House with Epstein and Maxwell in 1993, then?

Clinton claimed in his opening statement that he and Hillary Clinton (who said she never met Epstein) shook Epstein's hand in a fundraising line of people, that that's what that picture was about, but neither of them remembers it.

Clinton said he first remembers meeting Epstein when he started taking the trips with him for Clinton's foundation in 2002. He explained he took four or five trips on Epstein's plane to Asia and Africa, as well as one to "northern Europe." He also got a ride back from Florida to New York. The "26 trips" on the plane are breaking the four or five trips into the constituent parts, with multiple stops in Asia and Africa, for example. Clinton admitted going to Epstein's NYC townhouse once, while Epstein visited Clinton's office in Harlem once.

Clinton said he met Epstein through his Secretary of the Treasury, Larry Summers, who explained he had a plane that could take them on the trips that they were planning for Clinton's foundation work, and Epstein wanted to talk to Clinton about economics and politics.

Clinton claimed he first learned of Epstein's crimes in 2008. But he was much closer to Maxwell because she started going with a big donor/friend of his, Ted Waitt. He said he thought his relationship with Maxwell ended about a "decade" ago. A decade ago was 2016. He said that was because she moved, and then after 2019, when it became obvious that she was "involved," he said. That's pretty late in the game, given all the information by then. As we know, Maxwell went to Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010.

Clinton was asked about Doug Band, which was fascinating because Band was a very close advisor to Clinton at one point and instrumental in the start-up of the Clinton Global Initiative. He was one of the people who reportedly claimed that Clinton went to Epstein's island, which Clinton has denied. Clinton said he knew Band was in contact with Epstein and Maxwell. "I knew some of what he was doing, and I didn't know some of what he was doing," Clinton said.

When Clinton was asked if he had ever had any conversation with Epstein related to young women or girls, he glared and said, "No!" He was asked about Virginia Giuffre's claim that he was seen on the island, and he denied it. He also denied having any sexual relationship with either young women or girls related to Epstein or Maxwell.

There were questions about the pictures released by the DOJ of him in a pool with Ghislaine Maxwell and him in a hot tub with a redacted person. Clinton explained that the pictures were taken at a hotel in Brunei. He was invited to the country by the Sultan of Brunei. Clinton smirked when he said he didn't know the photo had been taken. He denied having sex with the person in the hot tub photo and said he didn't believe anyone in the pool had been a minor.

Then there was the inquiry from Republican Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) about Epstein saying Clinton "liked them young."

Clinton protested that it was "just not true." That was followed up with a great question about whether an intern is young. Clinton didn't seem to understand the reference and said yes. That presumably was a reference to him having a relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky.

Clinton also had this weird moment where he was looking at Epstein photos provided by Congress, and he was smiling at them. His attorney snatched them away, but he grabbed them back.

Despite Democrats trying to shift the focus to President Donald Trump, Clinton didn't help them when he said Trump never said anything to him about Epstein to indicate that he was involved.

Clinton also said neither Epstein nor Maxwell ever represented to him that they were working for foreign intelligence or US intelligence, and he didn't suspect they were. They asked him about a copy of a passport picture, which appeared to be of Jeffrey Epstein with a different name.

Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) asked Clinton about some of the victim's claims about him. She asked about Maria Farmer's claim that he was at Epstein's house in the latter half of the 90s, which would contradict what Clinton had testified to. He said he didn't recall that. Stansbury also questioned him about Virginia Giuffre's sworn statements that Clinton was on the island. Stansbury also explained that Giuffre's family had shared her diary with Stansbury, and the diary had an entry saying, "Bill Clinton met two times island with two girls, CT, GM, and JE." Clinton said that was not true. He also denied flying in a helicopter to the island with Ghislaine Maxwell.

Clinton denied ever trying to shut down a story about Epstein in Vanity Fair, which Virginia Giuffre alleged. Clinton also said he never tried to influence any DOJ or Florida state investigations relevant to Epstein.

The Oversight Committee is calling more people, including Doug Band. So that should be interesting to see if he sticks with his reported story and what else he might have to offer under oath.
