As we reported earlier, Mexico bent the knee and caved to President Donald Trump's tariff threats. They agreed to send 10,000 National Guard soldiers to the border to help interdict illegal aliens and drugs from coming across into our country. In return, the U.S. agreed to put off tariffs for a month as they continued to work out the deal.
It was a good sign that Trump's tactics had been successful, and the question then was what might happen given a similar situation with Canada? I reported on how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was trying to play tough with retaliatory tariffs on Sunday but got smacked down by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Well, it looks like Trump's power moves have prevailed yet again.
Justin Trudeau is now reporting that same "good call" that the Mexican president did with Trump. Canada will be dispatching 10,000 personnel and tech to the border to help deal with the drugs and illegal aliens.

I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border. In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million. Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together.
Looks like that's a lot more eyes on the border plus a continuing Joint Strike Force to deal with the issues. That sounds even better than the Mexican deal.
That's what Trump wanted — to get some action on the issues — and now he has what appear to be some real commitments. He's showing the art of the deal, the power of strength, and that tariffs, in some situations, can carry a lot of weight. It's just that we've had Joe Biden and ineffective leadership for so long, we forget that you can actually not get rolled in deals. This is a pretty amazing win, and so much for the Democrats who were trying to whip up fear over the tariff approach. Hard to argue with success.

Even the overly cautious were seeing it.
Tariffs on Canada now on hold. A win for Trump, at least for the moment. https://t.co/7uRLcGpWbt
