As we reported, X owner Elon Musk has now dropped his "thermonuclear lawsuit" on Media Matters in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, contending that the organization defamed the X platform after they published a report that said ads for major brands appeared next to posts praising Nazism. The report caused some major companies to pull their advertising from the X platform.

Journalist Michael Shellenberger said he wasn't able to reproduce the claims of Media Matters and that their real goal wasn't dealing with antisemitism but trying to "destroy X as a free speech platform." Musk termed the group "evil" in response.

Then Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced he had launched an investigation into this matter as to whether there was "potential fraudulent activity,”

“We are examining the issue closely to ensure that the public has not been deceived by the schemes of radical left-wing organizations who would like nothing more than to limit freedom by reducing participation in the public square,” Attorney General Paxton said.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey also said his team would be looking into the matter.

If that doesn't sound like it was a bad enough move by Media Matters, and maybe they should have thought a little bit more doing it, then Megyn Kelly topped off the response, pulverizing the organization during her podcast. She didn't hold back in eviscerating them.

Kelly termed Media Matters "vile,""disgusting," and "dishonest." She said if you hear, "Media Matters says," all your antennas should perk up, 'I'm about to be fed some bullsh*t." She pointed out why she has some credibility to comment on the subject because they had gone after her. As we also see, Riley Gaines seems to be a new target as well.

Kelly blasted their attack on X, "They're trying to kill X. They cannot stand that there's one platform not controlled by their people. It's very annoying to them that Elon Musk will not bend the knee to them."

Kelly also wrote about it on X, calling on people not to fall for the "hit job" and saying it was "important for X to survive." They cannot STAND the existence of even one platform that the hard left does not control,” she exclaimed.

Some sites and influencers are also pledging to try to help X survive any ad revenue hit by committing to buy advertising after Disney and Apple pulled out. I don't know if they can make up the difference, but the fight is important.

Folks like Seth Dillon, the CEO of the Babylon Bee, said his company would spend $250,000 to advertise on X, and Tim Pool, who has a very popular podcast and news site, said he would also be matching that.

“They attack Musk because they hate freedom, and they hate freedom because it threatens their power to control the narrative. It really is that simple,” Dillon wrote on his X account on Saturday.

Dillon lashed out at blue-chip companies including IBM, Disney, Comcast, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, Paramount Global and Apple for “pulling their ad spend to punish Musk for the crime of letting free people speak.”
