David Axelrod Has More to Say About Biden's Chances - The Powers That Be Should Listen

Brian Kersey

I'm not a fan of former Obama campaign guy David Axelrod. But I will acknowledge that he has, in the past, at least been willing to point out some truths. Unfortunately for the Democrats, he's doing that again now, with Joe Biden, but the powers that be don't seem to be listening. At least not yet.

As we previously reported, Axelrod put Biden's nose out of joint by saying it might be better for the party if he stepped aside. Biden reportedly called him a "pr*ck" in response. As Politico's Jonathan Martin observed, that kind of comment and ignoring the reality of his difficulties isn't going to get him elected.

My colleague Duke noted how both Axelrod and Biden were right. And as my colleague Bob Hoge reported, when confronted about his remarks about Biden, Axelrod didn't back down, saying he needed to "get out or get going."

However, Axelrod isn't leaving it there. He's continuing to trumpet the coming disaster for Biden, like Gabriel, and not letting Biden's nasty shot stop him from shouting out the truth.

He dished to New York Times Columnist Maureen Dowd on Saturday.

“I think he has a 50-50 shot here, but no better than that, maybe a little worse,” Axelrod proclaimed.

“He thinks he can cheat nature here and it’s really risky. They’ve got a real problem if they’re counting on Trump to win it for them. I remember Hillary doing that, too.” How did that work out for the Democrats?

Martin said that Biden wanted to deny the polls, and Axelrod said he does that at his own risk.

“I don’t care about them thinking I’m a pr**k — that’s fine,” Axelrod told Dowd.

“I hope they don’t think the polls are wrong because they’re not.”

When the polls say that everyone thinks you're too old, and you show — every day — your constant gaffes and incoherence, that's a tough thing to get around. Biden is not getting any younger, and the situation is only going to get worse. If he's already this bad, where he's getting lost on stage and constantly messing things up, how bad will it be if he is reelected? He will be 81 on Nov. 20 and will be 86 by the time he finishes if he occupies the White House a second time, God forbid. Given all the damage he's already done to the economy and our interests here and around the world, I don't know if we could survive that much more of him.

But so far, they don't seem to be pulling the pin on him, even though California Gov. Gavin Newsom is making a lot of posturing noises in the background. And Biden isn't voluntarily stepping aside because his opinion of himself is not attached to reality, and the people around him seem to want to stay in power, no matter how embarrassing it is to him and the country.

Trump is leading in six swing states, according to a recent Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll.

So if Axelrod is right, and I think he may well be, although it's hard to know a year out from the election, the Democrats are sleepwalking to disaster — disaster for them because getting Biden out would be the greatest thing for the country. So please, do keep ignoring Axelrod, Democrats.
