Report: Bowman Also Allegedly Pulled Down Signs On Emergency Door Before Pulling Fire Alarm

US Capitol Police

As we reported on Saturday, Rep. Janaal Bowman (D-NY) was caught on camera pulling a fire alarm while Democrats were trying to delay voting on averting a government shutdown. Then when it was obvious they had him on camera, and a picture of him pulling it was released by the Capitol Police, his staff admitted he did it but said it was because of "confusion" rushing to the vote. Then he said he did it because he thought the alarm that he pulled would open a door.

People weren't buying it, and he got roasted on social media. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) called for him to be prosecuted. Rep. George Santos (R-NY) put out a funny tutorial on how a fire alarm doesn't open a door. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blasted Bowman and others were trying to have him censured or expelled.

Bowman gave a further explanation, denying that he was trying to delay the vote.

Now, there's a report from Breitbart from "multiple sources" that Bowman ripped down two signs that were on the emergency door near the fire alarm he pulled.

Here's what the area normally looked like.

You can see how the inside signs are not visible on the emergency door as he is pulling the fire alarm in the featured picture above, and he has something in his hand.  The signs said "Emergency exit only." Plus, there was a sign on a stand that warned, "Emergency door only."

How do you not see that's a fire alarm? There's no mistaking unless you have serious problems and then you shouldn't be in Congress.

Breitbart was provided with pictures of what it looked like after they put the signs back up by sources "familiar with the investigation."

According to a "source familiar with the matter":

“He ripped both of them off the door and threw them both on the floor,” the source familiar with the investigation told Breitbart News.

“Then, he leaned into the door and tried to open it,” the source added. “Then, he pulled the fire alarm. When the alarm begins going off, he turned around and ran—going down to the first floor of Cannon and exited out of a different door then made his way across the street to votes. At no point did he say to anyone ‘sorry this is a mistake’ or ‘sorry I pulled the fire alarm by mistake’ or anything like that. He didn’t say anything to anyone until he was confronted by Capitol Police later. By doing what he did he caused a whole building to be evacuated. Capitol Police and emergency services need to treat any alarm like a real threat until they know otherwise.”

Now, we'll find out more as the investigation progresses. But if that report is correct, it surely doesn't sound that he was acting like it was an accident, when he ran and they had to go confront him.
