The Biden team is always trying to emphasize that Jill Biden is a “Dr.” and that she has an education degree. Joe Biden used to say that his wife sought the degree for status reasons: “She said, ‘I was so sick of the mail coming to Sen. and Mrs. Biden. I wanted to get mail addressed to Dr. and Sen. Biden.’ That’s the real reason she got her doctorate,” Joe Biden has said. Oh. So that’s why they’re so insistent that she be called “Dr.” But if you look at the “executive position paper” that earned her an Ed.D, it was not exactly a boon to scholarship.
That seeking of status may explain a lot — that’s why you see pictures like this where she’s sitting in the presidential chair on Air Force One acting like she’s the president in an Edith Wilson-like moment on the way to last year’s G-7.

It might also explain why we’re all in this mess rather than Joe being retired and playing with his grandkids.
But while Jill is always trying to impress people with her understanding, it tends to fall flat when she has no idea what she is talking about.
The First Lady was in San Antonio on Monday at a Latinx IncluXion luncheon.
First, let’s start with the fact that virtually no Hispanic people use the term “LatinX,” much less “IncluXion,” and many are ticked off at white liberal politicians like Jill Biden who would seek to impose it on people. The pandering — while not concentrating on the real issues that concern all Americans, like inflation — is part of the reason Hispanics are fleeing the Democrats.
But then Jill Biden opened her mouth and things went south quickly. If you don’t know Spanish or you’re using foreign words you don’t understand in your remarks, at least have someone explain them to you. Because if you don’t, you’re going to come off sounding very bad — like Jill Biden. Let’s hear as Jill talks about those “bogidas” and compares the community to “breakfast tacos.” Yikes.

“But we can’t get those things on our own,” Jill declared. “Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community — as distinct as the bogidas (sic) of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio — is your strength.”
If it wasn’t clear, the word that Jill Biden was searching for was “bodega.” Now, I get she’s maybe not spent any time around bodegas, but that’s where checking your remarks beforehand is a good idea so you don’t make dumb mistakes. But comparing Hispanic people to breakfast tacos? Yeah, no to that one too.
Let’s just say it isn’t going over well. Call it doubling down on dumb.

It shows Jill and her team don’t even care enough to get it right. This isn’t the first time that she’s had a problem. Who can ever forget this defining moment when she said, “Si se podway” when she was trying to say “Si, se puede” (Yes, you can).

They didn’t learn their lesson from that.
But there might have been a hint of Jill’s struggle with this issue in that executive position paper she wrote.
