Hilarious but Scary Video of Dem Who Wants to Chair Transportation Committee

Eleanor Holmes Norton is the congressional Delegate who represents Washington, D.C. in Congress in the House. She’s represented the district for over thirty years. She’s a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus. She also serves on both the Committee on Oversight and Reform as well as the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

When last we wrote about Holmes Norton, it was when she denied involvement in the release of zebras running around D.C. Seriously.

In December she sent a letter to House Democrats asking for their support for her being chair or ranking member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the next Congress, since the present chair, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), is retiring. But Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA) has also declared his interest in the position.

According to Roll Call, both are next in line of seniority on the Committee, and both hold positions as chairs of the two most powerful subcommittees — Norton chairs the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, while Larsen chairs the Aviation Subcommittee. Given the fact that the bipartisan infrastructure act passed not too long ago, whoever is the chair is going to be presiding over a lot of things coming down the pike.

But Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) had some thoughts about Norton’s request, and his hilarious response it lighting up the internet. He posted a video of Norton trying to park her car. Talk about Democrats going in the wrong direction! This is both hilarious and truly scary.

Now, the video is from 2015. Roll Call reported it at the time as the “worst parking job ever” and “abandon all hope, ye who happen to park anywhere near geometrically challenged-motorist Eleanor Holmes Norton.” Now we should note that she later claimed to media that there was no damage to the other cars and the Capitol Police said no report had been filed about any damage. But yeesh, how do you park like that, to begin with, and then how do you leave the car that way? And what does that say about you if you do?

Can we talk about how this is a metaphor for the Democrats in general not knowing where they are going? And if this is how she was driving in 2015 when she was 77, what is she driving like now when she’s 84? Roll Call noted this wasn’t the only bad parking job that could be attributed to her, noting she allegedly blocked a handicap ramp with her car and then took off. A female meter/ticket person observed the incident but then did nothing, according to their sources.

Add Holmes Norton to the list of folks like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Joe Biden who maybe should have retired a long time ago.
