There was a horrible incident on the set of a movie named “Rust” which was being filmed with actor Alec Baldwin, 63, in New Mexico.
Baldwin reportedly fired a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42 and critically wounded the director Joel Souza, 48. Souza was being treated at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe. Baldwin was allegedly in tears after the incident.

RedState has new information on the story. Industry sources told RedState that IATSE Local 44, which covers propmasters, sent out an email very late Thursday night saying that there was a single ‘live round’ in the gun Baldwin fired and that the production’s propmaster was not a member of the union, which recently voted against a strike over working conditions.
Deputies are still investigating the cause of the incident and Baldwin has been questioned as to what happened, but no charges have been filed. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said they were still interviewing witnesses. They did not call the shooting an accident, leaving that determination up to investigators. “The Sheriff’s office is referring to this incident as a shooting investigation,” Sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios said. “That detail will be addressed by detectives as they work their case.” The Sheriff’s office did say that the shooting occurred “during filming of a scene.”
“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC said in a statement obtained by Deadline.
“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation,” the statement continued. “We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”
Baldwin is also a co-producer on the movie which is a Western. He plays an outlaw Harland Rust who tries to break his 13-year-old grandson out of prison after he is convicted of an accidental murder.
