Maker or Taker? Musk Wrecks Texas State Lawmaker As He Defends Tesla Bonus in One Brilliant Tweet

Other than President Donald Trump, of course, the Democrat Party's most loathed target is, as the lefties simply define it, "the rich."

"The rich" is a disingenuous term, in this case, because Democrats only loathe wealthy people who don't do their bidding, or refuse to toe their ridiculous party line.

In other words, billionaires like America-hating George Soros are to be praised on the Left.

Anyway, in this article, we'll focus on "makers" vs. "takers," which goes something like this:

The phrase, “makers and takers” sums up, in a simple way, the fundamental divide in America’s economy, culture, and the business of politics.

Democrats have, for at least six decades, perpetuated the false notion (bald-faced lie) that "makers" (think: Elon Musk) are inherently selfish people who uncaringly hoard money like nobody's business, which they make, the lie goes, "off the backs" of hardworking Americans.

The reality of course is that the makers are the ones who create value, including for others.

Small business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators who build companies, create jobs, drive growth, pay taxes, and keep their respective enterprising functioning — benefit employees, shareholders, and yes, the "evil rich," too.

The worst of the takers, on the other hand, are those who depend on government (taxpayer) wealth redistribution rather than taking personal responsibility. They rely on entitlements, subsidies, and bureaucratic (Democrat) power to sustain themselves, all which many of them now demand.

This brings to the specific subject of the article:

Texas State Democrat Sen. Roland Gutierrez Tesla recently ripped into Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk over his wealth in a predictable, worn-out argument, politic ad, which was clearly created to appeal to low-information rank-and-file Democrat voters.

Here's Mr. Gutierrez — in all of his disingenuous (lying) glory (emphasis, mine):

On my way to Austin, today, and I passed by the Tesla plant. Elon Musk is about to become a trillionaire — on the backs of the American taxpayers. Because of Trump's big, ugly bill, this guy, through his shareholders; they're about to make him the first trillionaire in world.

After government subsidies that he's been given; government contracts that he's been given — not just here in Texas and beyond in Washington, you name it. While ordinary Texans, and people across this nation are struggling to get SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits; are struggling to maintain health insurance, auto insurance; just the price of the grocery bill — a family of four, now it costs over $400 a week to feed.

Gutierrez then slithered even deeper into the gutter:

How do we make it in America with greedy hogs like this (Musk) that just want to screw us over and over, again?

It is time that we push back against this Trump agenda — this agenda that is all about billionaires and millionaires and billionaires — and give back to the people what's theirs.

This is government of, for, and by the people. We deserve more than a government for a few billionaires to screw the rest of us.

I was almost embarrassed for this clown.

Gutierrez's little recitation was a textbook example of the class warfare, solely designed to create envy and bitterness, for one purpose and one purpose only: to drive voters to the Democrat Party. The fact that Gutierrez could make that absurd ad and keep a straight face was as humorous as it was pathetic.

Now the Fun Part

Gutierrez's laughable shtick was not only seen by Musk; he took the time to brilliantly wreck the Texas lawmaker's divisive argument — in a single post to X, no less (emphasis, mine):

You are a taker, not a maker. All you’ve done your whole life is take from the makers of the world. The zero-sum mindset you have is at the root of so much evil. Once you realize that civilization is not zero-sum and that it is about making far more than one consumes, then it becomes obvious that the path to prosperity for all is just let the makers make.

Regarding Tesla, the reality is that I have been given nothing. However, if I lead Tesla to become the most valuable company in the world by far and it stays that way for 5 years, shareholders voted to award me 12% of what is built. Anyone who wants to come along for the ride can buy Tesla stock.

If Tesla “merely” becomes a $1.999 trillion dollar company, I get nothing. This is a great deal for shareholders, which is why they voted so overwhelmingly to approve this, for which I am immensely grateful. And they did so by a margin far more than you won your political seat.

Whoa. Can you spell "obliteration"?

It goes without saying that Musk was right, including about the reality that most on the Lefts's views, including making money and building wealth as a zero-sum game. In other words, the more that evil rich people like Musk make or accumulate, the less is left for the rest of us (them).

On the other hand, capitalists and free-market thinkers, including most if not all conservatives, view the economy, including earning a living and/or accumulating assets, through the lens of an abundance mentality. You know; the "A rising tide lifts all boats" thing, which suggests that a growing economy benefits everyone who participates in it.

The fact that Gutierrez spewed his spew while standing in front of a Tesla manufacturing facility was priceless. Do you think it occurred to the dude that without Musk being Musk, the Texans employed at that facility wouldn't have those competitive jobs? Of course it didn't.

Moreover, based on the latest available data as of mid-2025, Musk's major companies (Tesla, SpaceX, X Corp/formerly Twitter, Neuralink, The Boring Company, and xAI) employ approximately 143,467 people in total.

Toss in the number of workers employed by the rest of the "evil" billionaires, and the absurd argument put forth by Mr. Gutierrez looks even sillier.

The Bottom Line

America thrives when it celebrates the maker’s mindset: responsibility, risk-taking, and resilience. It falters when buys the Left's nonsensical "taker: mindset: blame, entitlement, and dependence.

As I included in a related article on Friday, Democrat class warfare boils down to this:

Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more.

Then what, Rep. Gutierrez?
