President Donald Trump declared in a Friday morning post at Truth Social that "crowds are coming back" to Washington, D.C., after he ordered Mayor Muriel Bowser last week to "provide the services of the Metropolitan Police force for federal purposes," in conjunction with his memorandum directing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth "to mobilize the District of Columbia National Guard and order members to active service" to tackle the city's runaway crime problem (emphasis, mine):
Washington, D.C. is SAFE AGAIN! The crowds are coming back, the spirit is high, and our D.C. National Guard and Police are doing a fantastic job. They are out in force, and are NOT PLAYING GAMES!!!
As bad as it sounds to say, there were no murders this week for the first time in memory. Mayor Muriel Bowser must immediately stop giving false and highly inaccurate crime figures, or bad things will happen, including a complete and total Federal takeover of the City! Washington D.C. will soon be great again!!!
After Trump ordered the Guard to work with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to end violent crime in the Capital, the Democrat Party — with the aid of the party's shills in the party's shills in the left-wing media — rushed to declare that the Capital's crime rate wasn't nearly as bad as portrayed by the president and his cabinet.
More Lies: D.C. Quietly Settles With Police Sergeant Who Sued Over Falsified Crime Stats
The Justice Department has investigated whether the MPD manipulated or falsified crime data to make the city appear safer than it is. The probe intensified after Trump cited alleged inaccuracies as justification for federalizing D.C.'s police force and deploying federal law enforcement.
Specific cases involve accusations that crime data — particularly serious incidents like shootings, stabbings, and carjackings — were reclassified as lesser offenses (such as theft or simple assault), leading to the underreporting of actual violent crime in the city. These allegations have led to the suspension of at least one MPD commander, though he has denied the claims. Of course he has.
Trump told Newsmax in an interview aired on Thursday that is a "test" that could be used as a model to combat runaway crime in other Democrat-run cities across the country:
We're doing a sort of a test right now in D.C. It's working unbelievably, much faster than we thought. We've arrested hundreds of criminals — hard-line criminals, people that will never be any good, I don't care what they say. We got them out of the system. And, you know, unfortunately, we have a lot of cities like that.
Among the most crime-riddled cities in the U.S., Memphis, TN, Oakland, CA, St. Louis, MO, Baltimore, MD, and Detroit, MI, make up the top five spots, according to a recent survey.
Finally, Trump visited a command center in Washington on Thursday to thank law enforcement officers for their efforts to clean up the city:
I've straightened out crime in four days in D.C. All they do is say, 'He's a dictator.' The people are getting mugged all over the place. But we've got it going. People are so happy. They're going out to restaurants again. I mean, they're so happy.
While not everyone in D.C. is "so happy" — I'm talking about the left, including Democrat lawmakers — it's hard to argue with the results Trump gets when he goes after a Democrat-created problem, whether that's closing the border to illegal aliens or shutting down crime in our nation's capital.
And, yes, this is exactly part of what I —along with millions of other law-abiding Americans — voted for last November.
Editor's Note: The days of lawlessness in Washington, D.C. are over. Thanks to President Trump, our nation's capital will be SAFE once again.
