'Phobic': You Keep Using That Word, Democrats - I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means

We've all seen the meme.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Yep, among the myriad of ways the left attempts to discredit conservatives and conservative opinion is, as political activist Saul Alinsky wrote in "Rules for Radicals," "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

Today's left — including the radicalized Democrat Party — regularly employs the above tactic rather than respond intellectually to a particular issue at hand. For example, labeling opposition to controversial issues "phobic" — as in homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, and xenophobic — is among the left's most cherished go-tos.

The left's objective is to identify a person or organization as the target, attempt to isolate the target from support by making the issue about the target rather than about the real issue in dispute. By doing so, the left rallies its supporters against the target rather than in defense of the actual issue.

In the latest example, the InterMountain Education Service District in Oregon is facing a lawsuit brought by an employee over an order to remove books deemed “transphobic” from his desk.

The "offensive" books?

"He is He," "She is She," and "Johnny the Walrus."

The appearance of the books on the desk of the employee, Rod Theis, triggered a co-worker:

[A]n employee at one of Mr. Theis’ schools saw the covers of the books and complained that they were “transphobic.” IMESD labeled the display as “a hostile expression of animus toward another person relating to their actual or perceived gender identity” and ordered Mr. Theis to remove them. IMESD then warned him that “further conduct of this nature” may result in discipline, including termination of his employment.

But Mr. Theis’ display of the books caused no disruption. Indeed, not one student or school staff member had even commented about the Books to Mr. Theis since he began displaying them. The school principal even told Mr. Theis that he did not consider the Books to be offensive or inappropriate.

Oh, please.

"He is He" is, as described on Amazon as:

...a ground-breaking children’s book that celebrates what it means to be a boy and a man. God designed males and females with such incredible intentionality. Boy oh boy do we need the truth! HE IS HE is all about undeniable, biological, lovable him.

"She is She" as described on Amazon:

...explores what it means to be female...and love it! Through rhyme and super cute illustrations this book counters the lies of gender spectrum politics and illuminates the beauty of what a girl is. It's all about undeniable, biological, beautiful her!

And "Johnny the Walrus," via Amazon:

Johnny is a little boy with a big imagination. One day he pretends to be a big scary dinosaur, the next day he’s a knight in shining armor or a playful puppy. But when the internet people find out Johnny likes to make-believe, he’s forced to make a decision between the little boy he is and the things he pretends to be — and he’s not allowed to change his mind. From Daily Wire personality and bestselling author Matt Walsh comes a timely tale of innocence, identity, and imagination.

So here's the thing — for starters:

While I might not be a supersleuth, I don't see a single word in any of the above book descriptions about so-called "transgenderism" — do you? On the contrary, all three books celebrate the natural wonders of boys and girls growing up as boys and girls — as they were born.

Yet, we've seen innumerable books and op-eds on the left celebrating "trans" kids, some obscenely going as far as celebrating "transitioning" kids — meaning in its extreme, irreversible mutilation of children's bodies, including mastectomies, and castration; either surgically or chemically.

So what's the difference?

The left's warped perceptions and definitions of a whole lot of things, including morality, sexuality, and extreme child abuse.

As political commentator Jonathan Turley wrote in a Sunday column, "The district defines 'bias incident' as a 'person’s hostile expression of animus toward' another 'person’s perceived … gender identity.'”

Turley continued:

However, the standard and underlying process of what constitutes such a violation is vague. There is no required showing of an impact on a group or any identifiable individual.

The district rules allow employees “to decorate their offices with personal items including paintings, photos, quotes, books, and even posters or statements that convey political messages.”

The complaint notes that other employees have decorated their spaces with political material as well as material supporting alternative views of gender. These include pride symbols and material. However, Theis was denied the same privilege.

The lawsuit claims that the district is maintaining a discriminatory speech policy that allows expression of support for alternative views of gender while forbidding express support for a biological view. The resulting censorship is being challenged under the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution. Theis is seeking a preliminary injunction.

The hypocritical treatment of Theis by the leftist lunatics in left-wing Oregon is both blatant and abhorrent. Yet innumerable similar examples occur on the left, regularly — with nary a peep from the left-wing media.

The "phobia" rests not among conservatives but among leftists who are terrified of normalcy, morality, and decency on which America stands — and how those qualities, if embraced by too many people, could bring their obscene circus to its demise.
