Let's begin with a summary, and then backhoe and fill in the details for a change.
Why? Because, like nearly everything that comes from our European "friends," this story is not only insane; it's also further proof that much of Europe is enthusiastic tossing its very identity over the cliff.
After Vice President JD Vance's recent historic speech about free speech before European muckety-mucks in Munich, various miffed European leaders went public to express their shock and disbelief that they — of all people — would be accused of rolling back free speech.
However, in yet another example that JD was right, U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner recently announced that her government will be further cracking down on "hate speech," with a new working group tasked with defining ‘"Islamophobia."
Even more ridiculous, MPs (Members of Parliament) are working on legislation that would make it illegal to photograph Muslim women not wearing hijabs.

So here's the all-too-obvious deal:
The United Kingdom, and likely the rest of Europe, won't wake up and realize it goes too far until it's too late — a centuries-old habit on the Continent.
'Islamophobia'
Let's first talk about one of the left's favorite practices: labeling things opposed by moral (conservative, mostly) people as a "phobia." From "homophobia" to "transphobia" to "xenophobia" to of course, "Islamophobia."
I can only speak for myself, but I hereby declare that I am not afraid of — and have zero fear of "any of the above."
I've written multiple times that I neither care about, nor is it my business, what cognitive-capable adults do with, or to, their bodies, including with other cognitive-capable adults. I also couldn't care less about what others believe from a spiritual perspective — including atheists — for the same reason. And when any of the above play stupid games, they often win stupid prizes.
What I do much care about — as should all people in a moral society — is the indoctrination of children with "any of the above," or the left's attempts to "force" the rest of us into not only accepting their believes, but even worse, attempting to force the rest of us into actively embracing them.
Anyway, as reported by The Telegraph, Rayner said the British government is committed to “putting a name” on "anti-Muslim hatred," and will soon announce a new council on Islamophobia to advise ministers on an official definition.
Think that through — or read it again. A tad Orwellian, don't you think?
In her announcement, Raynor said her "working group" would be chaired by former Conservative attorney general Dominic Grieve KC, who has already admitted:
Defining Islamophobia is extremely difficult for perfectly valid reasons relating to freedom of expression.
Here's more from the Telegraph piece linked above:
Ministers will have to decide whether to adopt it, subsume elements of it into a new version or come up with a complete alternative. They are said to want the experts to help get a “better understanding of this unacceptable treatment and prejudice against Muslim communities.”
A spokesman for the group said: “We are firmly committed to tackling all forms of hatred and division, including addressing the unacceptable rise in anti-Muslim hatred and will provide further updates on this shortly.”
Hear that toilet swirling? That's the sound of freedom of express in the UK further disappearing.
'Hijab-Less' Muslim Women
First, I must confess: this next one made me laugh out loud. Not at Muslim women; but at the insane state of the uppity-ups of British society. (emphasis, gleefully mine).
Possessing photos of a Muslim woman without her hijab should be made a criminal offense, MPs have proposed.
The Commons' women and equalities committee said pictures of a Muslim woman without her headscarf – taken without her consent – should be considered "non-consensual intimate images."
Such photographs should be treated the same as child sex abuse images, possession of which can carry long prison sentences, the MPs said.
The committee report concluded: 'The Government should bring forward amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill to make possession of non-consensual intimate images an offense."
Incidentally, raise your hand if you think radical leftists in America would be all over supporting this insanity in this country, while they rail against efforts by President Donald Trump and conservatives to crack down pro-Hamas demonstrations on our streets and on taxpayer-supported university campuses.
George Washington Law School professor, author, and political commentator Jonathan Turley opined in a Saturday column about the latest insanity in the UK:
The APPG [All Party Parliamentary Group] included criticism of Islamic beliefs and practices as examples of Islamophobia. It has been condemned for treating criticism of the faith as a type of hate speech. For years, I have been writing about the decline of free speech in the United Kingdom and the steady stream of arrests, including:
A man was convicted for sending a tweet while drunk referring to dead soldiers. Another was arrested for an anti-police t-shirt. Another was arrested for calling the Irish boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend a “leprechaun.” Yet another was arrested for singing “Kung Fu Fighting.” A teenager was arrested for protesting outside of a Scientology center with a sign calling the religion a “cult.”
Last year, Nicholas Brock, 52, was convicted of a thought crime in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The neo-Nazi was given a four-year sentence for what the court called his “toxic ideology” based on the contents of the home he shared with his mother in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Judge Peter Lodder QC dismissed free speech or free thought concerns with a truly Orwellian statement: “I do not sentence you for your political views, but the extremity of those views informs the assessment of dangerousness.”
Turley correctly continued:
The fear is that an expanded hate speech law that includes criticism of Islamophobia will operate like a British blasphemy law. In 2008, the common law offences of blasphemy and blasphemous libel were abolished in England. This new effort could constructively restore such prosecutions as they relate to Islam.
Like most conservatives who are ever-grateful that President Donald Trump sits on the Oval Office instead of President Kamala Harris, I sometimes shudder at thought of the destruction a Harris-Walz administration would deliver to all that we, as patriotic, freedom-loving Americans, cherish.
The chilling developments currently underway in the UK is one of those times.
