Hollywood stars tend to have an air of invincibility about them. Consequently, many of them believe they can say whatever they want to say, do whatever they want to do, and they will remain immune to consequences.
Except for Susan Sarandon these days.
Now, I'm not sure if the Oscar winner still qualifies as a Hollywood star, but I do know that the pro-Muslim, antisemitic actress recently found out the hard way that she's not as invincible as she must have thought she was before making outrageous comments at a pro-Palestinian rally in New York City in the aftermath of the horrific Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack against Israeli civilians.
Granted, Sarandon has run her left-wing mouth for decades. But when innocent men, women, and children — including babies — are slaughtered, raped, and tortured in their homes without warning, one would think that even this leftist could at least keep her mouth shut. That one would be wrong:
There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.
Shortly thereafter, Sarandon suffered her first consequence.
As we reported on Nov. 21, Sarandon was unceremoniously dropped by United Talent Agency (UTA). Sources said several UTA staffers were "extremely hurt" by the actress's continuing rage against Jews as Israel's military campaign to destroy Hamas in Gaza continued.
Welp, on Tuesday, another shoe dropped — and this one is going cost Sarandon money she would've otherwise made if only she could've kept her Jew-hating left-wing mouth shut.
Production company PTO Films recently decided they no longer want to work with Sarandon following her hateful comments, as exclusively reported by Page Six. David Barroso, the co-founder of the indie film production company, told Page Six:
"As a company, PTO Films would like to make it clear that Susan Sarandon’s views do not reflect the opinions of our organization. We were considering her for a short film, but due to her recent statements, we have decided to pursue other options."
The 77-year-old actress was cast to appear in the film company's short indie movie, "Slipping Away," a thriller about "a schizophrenic man [who] struggles with his own psychosis and his wife's extramarital affair as the lines between his violent hallucinations and reality become increasingly blurred."
Not exactly a high-priced Hollywood blockbuster, but hey, Sarandon apparently believed it was worth her time financially. Too bad.
It should be noted that Sarandon posted a lengthy statement to Instagram on Friday apologizing for her "terrible mistake."
Intending to communicate my concern for an increase in hate crimes, I said that Jewish Americans, as the targets of rising antisemitic hate, "are getting a taste of what it is like to be Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence.
This phrasing was a terrible mistake, as it implies that until recently Jews have been strangers to persecution, when the opposite is true. As we all know, from centuries of oppression and genocide in Europe to the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh, PA, Jews have long been familiar with discrimination and religious violence which continues to this day.
I deeply regret diminishing this reality and hurting people with this comment. It was my intent to show solidarity in the struggle against bigotry of all kinds, and I am sorry I failed to do so.
Yeah, I'm calling BS. The cold-hearted venom behind Sarandon's comment wasn't a "terrible mistake." Besides, she made the comment at a pro-Palestinian rally — after radical Islamists had committed unspeakable atrocities. As far as I'm concerned, she's getting exactly what she deserves.
The Bottom Line
I don't know anything about loose lips sinking ships, but I do know that Susan Sarandon's disgusting antisemitic mouth likely cost her what was left of her fading career.
That said, maybe she doesn't give a damn one way or the other — as long as she can continue hating Jews.
