Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy blew the lid off the massive number of truck drivers who can't speak/read English after removing nearly ten thousand of them from our highways.

In an X post on Wednesday, Duffy confirmed a report about the results of a crackdown by President Donald Trump's administration on illegal alien drivers, following a series of deadly traffic crashes nationwide. My RedState colleague Becky Noble has done some great reporting on the issue, which can be read here.

"We've now knocked 9,500 truck drivers out of service for failing to speak our national language — English," Duffy wrote. "This administration will always put you and your family's safety first."

Duffy's response was to a Bloomberg headline that read, "Truckers Who Fail English Tests Get Pulled Off Roads in Trump Crackdown."

A CNBC report about the story included the following:

Duffy, in late June, announced a nationwide audit of states' practices regarding issuing "non-domiciled" commercial driver's licenses, with a particular focus on the "potential for unqualified individuals obtaining licenses and posing a hazard on our roads."

"The open borders policies of the last administration allowed millions to flood our country – leading to serious allegations that the trucking licensing system is being exploited," Duffy said at the time.

Duffy announced earlier this month that the administration had put thousands of truck driving schools on notice that they must comply with training requirements for drivers or face closure, RedState reported.

"Huge Alert: US Department of Transportation is giving thousands of trucking schools 30 days to comply with federal rules for drivers, or they may be forced to close down," Duffy's post read.

"The days of a 'Wild Wild West' trucking industry are over under the Trump administration," he added.

The comments came in response to an Associated Press report about the federal review by the administration.

The action reins in "illegal and reckless practices that let poorly trained drivers get behind the wheel of semi-trucks and school buses," Duffy said.

Unless I am mistaken, numbers like nearly 10,000 drivers being on the road who can't understand English or our road signs are truly terrifying. Thankful for the actions of Trump and his team to make the roads safer for my kids and all of us.
