In one brief clip that has since gone viral, Joe Biden laid out exactly why he and his administration cannot be trusted to solve one of the greatest crises facing Americans today.
That clip, in which he chuckles about a grieving mother and idea of being responsible for the death of two boys to fentanyl, has become emblematic of the problem we see today. Marjorie Taylor Greene blamed Biden for the death of two young men who died during the Trump Administration. Biden turned around and blamed Trump. He laughed, then moved on. He was dismissive of a grieving mother, her dead sons, and blamed their deaths on Donald Trump all in one fell swoop.
Biden: A little bit more Marjorie Taylor Greene will have a lot of Republicans running our way.
Is she amazing? She was saying that a poor mom that lost two kids, that I killed her sons. The interesting thing is that fentanyl they took came during the last administration pic.twitter.com/RpUheMmk53— Acyn (@Acyn) March 2, 2023
The blame game here is appalling. The crisis is one that everyone should be working on, but politicians would rather blame each other and fundraise off the soundbites than actually work to fix the problems.
The mom at the center of this, Rebecca Kiessling, was not amused. She tore into the president, as she rightfully should have, over just how callous that laugh was and how irresponsible he has been during this crisis.
Those are my deceased sons who Biden is joking about. I never thought I'd be typing those words. I'm horrified.

As I mentioned last week, one of the most important promises Joe Biden made while on the campaign trail in 2020 was to address and end the fentanyl crisis that has been impacting the United States. If you were to set a Google News alert on your state and fentanyl, you would be getting updates almost daily, and in many places multiple times daily, as the crisis continues to get worse in the United States.
A few months back, the Washington Post put out a pretty damning report on the government’s failure to address this crisis. This isn’t just on Joe Biden, though – it’s been decades in the making.
That’s the crux of the problem – the government has been extremely slow to react, slow to combat, slow to prevent, and slow to show us just how bad it really is.
That’s a major issue in this fight. There have been decades of neglect that have gone into this. When George W. Bush was in office, his administration did little to address the growing opioid epidemic. Barack Obama demoted the U.S. drug czar position to a non-cabinet position, and his administration treated fentanyl as an additive, rather than its only classification of drug.
Donald Trump focused on the wall and arrests of illegal immigrants, but not on inspecting the traffic coming into the country legally. Joe Biden’s administration has let the floodgates fly open on the border, increasing the odds that even more fentanyl will pour into the country.
That has made it an exceedingly difficult fight for local law enforcement, and it’s a losing battle.
However, it’s been Biden’s absolute refusal to do anything about the border that has made the situation far worse than it’s ever been. The floodgates are open and while shipment after shipment is being confiscated both at the border and at ports of entry, it isn’t stopping.
This has a lot to do with Biden’s refusal to secure the border, get more aggressive against the drug cartels and the failed narco-state that is Mexico overall, and get tougher on what the Chinese are shipping to those cartels. This isn’t just one bad actor – both Mexico and China are complicit in this flood of drugs into the country.
Many of the chemicals that make this cheap, easy-to-make synthetic drug come from China. They are shipped here and they are shipped to Mexico. The cartels are manufacturing below the border and shipping in as well as bringing the chemicals across the border and manufacturing here. On top of that, their drug dealers aren’t just making fentanyl, they’re cutting other drugs with it to make them more addictive. It’s a massive problem.
And while this has been a multi-administration failure, the present administration has seemingly done everything possible to help the crisis continue. The border is virtually open, the security we have there is understaffed and overworked, and his administration has been extraordinarily light on both Mexico and China.
Rebecca Kiessling’s sons deserve justice. The countless Americans who have become trapped in an addiction to the drug, or outright killed by it, deserve justice. They will not get either under the current regime. Biden would rather laugh and play the blame game in response to a Republican playing the blame game. No one seems really eager to take this seriously anymore.
