A Culture of Ineptitude, Blame and Laziness

There is very much a cultural problem in the White House, and it is not (at those at MSNBC will already be pointing fingers and trying to accuse me of saying) a racial one… Hell, how could it be? This is has been an administration of incredible whiteness and little to no diversity beyond what previous administrations have had.

No, friends, this is a culture of ineptitude, laziness, and just plain not giving a… well, you know.

As nearly two dozen Secret Service agents and members of the military were punished or fired following a 2012 prostitution scandal in Colombia, Obama administration officials repeatedly denied that anyone from the White House was involved.

But new details drawn from government documents and interviews show that senior White House aides were given information at the time suggesting that a prostitute was an overnight guest in the hotel room of a presidential advance-team member — yet that information was never thoroughly investigated or publicly acknowledged.

The information that the Secret Service shared with the White House included hotel records and firsthand accounts — the same types of evidence the agency and military relied on to determine who in their ranks was involved.

The Secret Service shared its findings twice in the weeks after the scandal with top White House officials, including then-White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler. Each time, she and other presidential aides conducted an interview with the advance-team member and concluded that he had done nothing wrong.

This is a report from, of all places, The Washington Post. As in, the place that goes to bat just as hard as any Democratic political group. And there is little point in denying that, right now, there is a severely negative image being photographed of this administration, and only now are the voters really getting to see it. We’ve known it was there, but at times, I don’t think even we pictured it getting this bad.

President Barack Obama has long been thought to be aloof from his day-to-day responsibilities. He has skipped intelligence briefings, gone to play golf immediately after giving a speech lamenting the death of an American citizen at the hands of the people those skipped intelligence briefings warned him about, and he has shown to have little to no actual care (or perhaps knowledge) of how is office is supposed to be run.

The smartest man in the room is looking like the smartest men in the room usually do – bored with the common people, and remaining as far apart from them as possible.

This attitude has spilled over into his administration. Those that don’t seem to enjoy being thrown under the bus are returning fire. Those who are no longer there are no longer holding their tongues. The Secret Service has become a joke – one that is far too dangerous to the health and safety of the holders of our highest offices to be funny. The intelligence community has become another scapegoat (it was truly wonderful for a moment for the heat to be off us as Republicans and conservatives). Congress has become an (even more) empty shell that does nothing of any significance thanks to the blind and possible demented leadership of folks like [mc_name name=’Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’P000197′ ] and [mc_name name=’Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000146′ ]. Even the head of the president’s own party has not been able to avoid the blame from a White House looking to save its own image.

This is all a direct result of Barack Obama not just being a bad leader, but being a leader with a general disdain for anyone he considers lower than himself, which at this point, seems to be everyone. With no real leadership coming from the man who doesn’t want to lead so much as be an icon, the house of cards collapses beneath him, and as we have seen and will continue to see, those still in that house will be fighting each other to get out alive.
