A Democrat strategist made a gruesome wish when he said his party had better "pray long and hard" that the country is going "to be in a [..] depression" if they want to have success following President Donald Trump's historic wins since November.
Speaking to The Hill, several strategists for the party didn't sugarcoat the fact that polls show Americans' view of the Democrat party is at what they called a "historic low," and given Trump keeps winning by securing the border, signing the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) - sorry not sorry Sen. Chuck Schumer (N-NY) - and taking out Iran's nuclear capabilities, just for starters.
Profanity alert: "This is a nightmare scenario for the Dems right now," the unnamed strategist told the outlet. "We better pray long and hard that the country is going to be in a f‑‑‑ing depression because I don't know how else we find ourselves out of this mess."

Another Democrat strategist, Brad Bannon, didn't paint as horrible a picture as the first but still added, "Sadly, Democrats are still stuck in the same mud that they were in six months ago. We are still as unpopular as we were when Trump was inaugurated in January."
The article also highlighted data from a new poll by a Democratic Super PAC, taken between May and June, that showed the party has yet to gain any ground on Trump. But even worse for them (obviously, this is great news for Republicans) is that they are less popular than they were when Trump trounced them and their seat filler for former President Joe Biden, Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

When voters were asked to describe the party, terms like "woke," "weak," and "out of touch" came to mind.
As another Democrat strategist put it about the poll results:
"It's hard to message when you're in the wilderness, which is what we are right now," Democratic strategist Rodell Mollineau said, who serves as senior adviser to the super PAC. "When voters don't think that you care about their issues, and they don't think that you're going to fight for them, that becomes a problem."
The recent victory by radical Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani in the New York Democrat primary race could also signal more trouble for the party as it has caused a divide between those who want to try and win back the blue-collar American voters by staying out of the culture wars versus the liberals that are ready to dive head first into socialism and communist tactics, supported by the likes of Mamdani.
Veteran Dem strategist James Carville has also tried to sound the alarm that the party's in trouble, warning that Mamdani's victory could be a "damaging event" to them.

During the "Politics War Room (with James Carville and Al Hunt)" podcast, the two discussed Mamdani's shocking victory, with Hunt suggesting it will turn out to be a "gift to Republicans."
As RedState reported, the self-described Democrat Socialist calls for crazy things like government-run grocery stores, rent freezes, and is fine with uttering the phrase "Globalize the intifada!"
The Dem strategist noted how Mamdani "has not walked back" calls for "global infitada" [sic].
Hunt replied, "However, I do believe that Republicans will jump on this," and Carville agreed.
"I can't imagine that any Democratic candidate anywhere in the country is going to be able to escape answering this question. I think the microphone's going to follow him around. I think that they're going to pound this home as hard as they possibly can," Carville said.
"Depending on who comes in a general election, there's a lot of Democrats that are going to have a hard go at this. I think it's a potentially damaging event," he added.
