Elmo Goes Haywire With Disgusting Posts on X, but the Mockery in the Replies Is a Laugh Riot

You may recall last year when Joe Biden was facing multiple crises, including the border being overrun and American hostages still being held by Hamas, and he urged us to listen to Elmo, the Sesame Street muppet, regarding emotional health.

That was ironic given his own mental health and ridiculous given all he was supposed to be dealing with - but wasn't.

It was the first thing I thought of when I heard on Monday that the Elmo X account had gone on a wild antisemitic rampage, posting unhinged things against Jewish people to his 640,000 followers, including "Kill all Jews." It also called on President Donald Trump to "release the files" with a nasty curse word. It even replied to people in similar unsavory language.

The Sesame Street folks disavowed it.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, a Sesame Workshop spokesperson confirmed, "Elmo’s X account was compromised today by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts. We are working to restore full control of the account."

The bad tweets have since been deleted.

People had fun mocking Elmo for going off the rails.

Some speculated on how he may have just become more popular with Democrats with this kind of talk. Others speculated he might want to be associated with Columbia University. Some asked how would you even know if it was a hack when it sounded like a lot of leftist accounts? Definitely not dissimilar to a lot of anti-Israel protesters.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said he had now been "forever scarred" by Elmo, words he "never expected to utter."

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) blamed it on the effort to defund PBS.

One user likened it to a scene from "Inglourious Basterds," where it did not end well for the Nazi soldier who stood where Elmo was standing.

This one was my favorite.

It was a take-off on the Mossad capturing Nazi Adolf Eichmann in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1960and how he was returned for the trial in Israel.

Add one more thing to the defunding PBS question, as the bill that contains that provision makes its way through Congress. Even if it was a hack, there were already many reasons to cut funding.

There are questions about whether they will have enough votes to get the DOGE spending cuts over the line. The usual suspects are hemming and hawing.

Get it done already, Congress.
