Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has introduced legislation whose sole purpose is to cease FEMA funding toward the Shelter and Services Program to illegal immigrants into the country and immediately redirect those funds to hurricane relief; particularly to assist the areas affected by Hurricane Helene. This is on the heels of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claiming that FEMA had little money left to address hurricane relief and the Heritage Foundation Oversight report that shows the Biden-Harris administration has poured billions into this so-called "refugee resettlement."

Now whistleblowers have come forward alleging that the agency has not only misappropriated funds, but is withholding necessary pre-disaster aid from first responders and service members who are waiting in the wings to help the victims of Hurricane Helene.

The Mace legislation is written in simple terms, barely two pages, and limits itself to the matters at hand. Here's a thought: If Congress actually wrote direct and precise legislation such as this, they might actually get more done.

The bill's text as written:

A Bill to terminate the Shelter and Services Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 

Section 1. TERMINATION.

Beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, no Federal funds are authorized to be appropriated or otherwise made available to the Shelter and Services Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as in effect on the day before such date of enactment, or to any successor or similar program.

Sec. 2. TRANSFER OF APPROPRIATION

The unobligated balances of all amounts appropriated or otherwise made available to the Shelter and Services Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency as of the day before the date of the enactment of this Act shall be transferred to and merged with amounts otherwise made available for necessary expenses to carry out the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq.).

Today we are introducing legislation to end this FEMA madness.

This proposed Act best be fast-tracked and pushed quickly to the floor for votes in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, because citizens in western North Carolina, East Tennessee, and portions of Georgia are dying and desperate for help, and $750 dollars and declaring you're in charge and on top of it (when it is clear you are not) is not doing them a damn bit of good. Frankly, this action of shifting funds purposed for one initiative into another one that is more needed should have already been written into the United States Code decades ago, and it should be an automatic action. Americans who are suffering should be the priority of any appropriations, over and above illegals, foreign wars, and especially lawmakers' salaries.
