Anna Paulina Luna Issues the First Shot, Filing a Resolution for Adam Schiff's Removal From Congress

As my colleague Nick Arama reported, constitutional law attorney Jonathan Turley had some particular questions for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) after the Durham Report exposed his complicity and duplicity in keeping the Russia Collusion hoax alive through his role as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

There’s so much wrongdoing involved in all of this. But let’s point out one big lie that we always knew was a lie — which the report confirms.

Remember when Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) — then the Chair of the House Intelligence Committee — claimed he had seen evidence that he couldn’t share with us demonstrating Russia collusion? Now that the Report says there was nothing, where is Adam’s evidence?

George Washington Law professor Jonathan Turley is demanding some answers from Schiff.

Turley shouldn’t hold his breath. Schiff is already out there attempting to gaslight and deflect from his role in not only the hoax of the century, but in the destruction of constitutional norms. Schiff took to Lawrence O’Donnell’s show on MSNBC to claim that the investigation was flawed from the beginning, that Durham engaged in unethical conduct, and that it was “four years of undermining the department in a political prosecution.”

The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks. What Schiff did was four years of undermining the Trump presidency in the name of political prosecution and persecution.

Of course, Schiff is hoping to ascend to the Senate, taking the seat of retiring Senator Dianne Feinstein in 2024. So, any further exposure of his dissimulation, falsehoods, and failures (he was publicly removed from the House Intelligence Committee by Speaker Kevin McCarthy) doesn’t suit his need to tout his bloated and ill-gained credentials or to fundraise for the Senate race.

Freshman Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) is not looking for Schiff to provide answers; she wants to see him removed as a member Congress and has filed a resolution to get the ball rolling.

From the Congresswoman’s press release:

This evening, Rep. Luna filed a resolution, H. Res. 412, to expel Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) from the United States House of Representatives.

“Adam Schiff lied to the American people. He used his position on House Intelligence to push a lie that cost American taxpayers millions of dollars and abused the trust placed in him as Chairman. He is a dishonor to the House of Representatives,” Rep. Luna stated.

“The Durham Report makes clear that the Russian Collusion was a lie from day one and Schiff knowingly used his position in an attempt to divide our country.”

Schiff not only did this knowingly, but with great glee. In the years between 2017 and 2020, Schiff happily bounced around every station from CNN, to MSNBC, and even Fox News, claiming he had evidence—irrefutable evidence—that Trump knowingly colluded with the Russians to influence the 2016 election. Despite his protestations, what the Durham Report revealed with cold, hard, evidence and actual investigation, instead of hearsay, manufactured garbage and lies, is that Schiff, the FBI, the DOJ, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, had been wasting taxpayer dollars investigating an elaborate fantasy in order to persecute and destroy Trump and his campaign.

However, instead of Schiff owning his tainted role in this affair, he has chosen to double down, pretending to be a champion of the rule of law, and of course, to fundraise for his Senate campaign off Luna’s resolution.

In a Wednesday press conference, Speaker McCarthy suggested that Schiff’s removal from Congress is something that should be considered.

McCarthy made the comments while addressing the media on Wednesday when he was asked what the consequences of the report would be considered.

“Well, a number of things, we’re asking Durham to come in and testify so that we can look at it more,” said McCarthy.

“It really raises the question about Adam Schiff. Remember when he told the American people he had proof? Remember when he told them he didn’t know the whistleblower? And what he put American through? And openly lied to us?” he added.

“And now it’s proven in this as well? It raises a lot of questions about his, just his character, his standing inside of Congress,” he said.

“And whether he should even be in Congress,” McCarthy concluded.

McCarthy has his hands full with the debt ceiling battle, so it appears he is handing this to his junior members of Congress who are up to the fight.

In the meantime, Schiff is playing the white knight, and as usual, always positioning himself for higher office.
