Former President Donald Trump was rushed from the stage after being shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Footage of the incident is circulating on social media. It shows Trump speaking before loud popping noises resembling gunfire can be heard. The former president puts his hand to his ear before being tackled by Secret Service agents. After standing back up, blood can be seen on Trump’s ear and face as he raises a defiant fist before being rushed off the stage.

The media reactions were fast and dishonest. CNN published a piece with the headline, “Secret Service rushes Trump off state after he falls at rally.” There was no mention of gunshots in the title.

The news outlet later appeared to update its headline: “Trump injured in incident at Pennsylvania rally.”

USA Today followed suit, publishing a piece with the following headline: Trump removed from stage by Secret Service after loud noises startles [sic] former president, crowd.”

The Trump campaign released a statement notifying the public that he is “safe.”

The White House and Secret Service also released statements. President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident.

The Associated Press has confirmed that a rally attendee was killed.
