Joe Walsh Offers Braindead Deflection From Efforts to Rig the 2024 Election By Disqualifying Trump

Joe Walsh, a political commentator who has the distinction of being one of the most extreme sufferers of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), chimed in on the debate over Democrats using the 14th Amendment to stop former President Donald Trump from seeking the White House again in 2024, and it was about as braindead a commentary as one might expect.

The day after Maine’s secretary of state became the latest government official to try influencing the outcome of the upcoming presidential election using the 14th Amendment, Walsh argued that the whole situation was the fault of the Orange Man What Is Bad™.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Walsh wrote:

A reminder: We’re going through ALL of this because Donald Trump was too big of a crybaby to simply accept an election loss.

We need to make him cry again in 2024.

Walsh appears to be arguing that since Trump claimed the 2020 election was rigged, it is somehow acceptable for Democrats to attempt to rig the 2024 election by cynically using a provision in the Constitution that was intended to prevent former Confederates from holding office to prevent the former president from seeking the White House.

Only a rabid TDS patient would make such an assertion. In fact, Maine’s secretary of state made a similar argument when justifying its decision to remove Trump from the ballot

The decision by Maine's Democrat Secretary of State, Shenna Bellows, as to Trump's inclusion on the ballot there was prompted by the filing of petitions to her office on December 1, when the 2024 presidential candidates were announced, according to reporting by WMTW in Portland. Two challenges, like the ones in Colorado and Michigan, rely on the 14th Amendment argument.

Two petitions say Trump shouldn't be allowed to run for president because he violated the U.S. Constitution by engaging in an insurrection, referring to Jan. 6, 2021.

A Portland law firm says Trump should be disqualified, citing the 22nd Amendment, arguing because Trump claims he won the 2020 election, he is in turn disqualifying himself under the term limit rules. (Try to make that make sense intellectually.)

What Walsh is leaving out is that the anti-Trumpers are not trying to disqualify the former president because he challenged the result of the 2020 election. They are trying to disqualify him by pretending that 1) The J6 riot was an insurrection on par with the Confederacy warring against the United States and 2) Trump is responsible for starting the riot.

When taking into account both of these factors, it is easy to see that this campaign against Trump has nothing to do with justice or protecting the Constitution. It is nothing more than a push to influence the outcome of the upcoming election. Democrats are simply using the legal system to skew the odds of winning in President Joe Biden’s favor.

Unfortunately, one of the primary symptoms of TDS is a distinct inability to think critically when it comes to any topic involving the former president.
