Sadly, Cracker Barrel has created a mell of a hess for itself over the past week or so, debuting an updated new logo that quite literally took all of the charm and appeal out of the old, traditional one, and rolling out a new restaurant design that looks about as warm and inviting as a hospital cafeteria.
As RedState reported, longtime fans of the restaurant were not amused upon hearing the news, with some accusing Tennessee-based Cracker Barrel of going "woke" or too modern for its customers' tastes, while others urged the chain to focus more on the declining food quality and questionable menu selections rather than the branding, saying eating at Cracker Barrel was not as enjoyable as it used to be.
The statement Cracker Barrel issued in response to the outcry didn't do them any favors, either, falling well short of directly addressing the logo and redesign controversies while promising staple favorites would remain on the menu and the rocking chairs would still be on the porch, even if the environment people were eating in looked sterile and cold.

For those who haven't seen what the changes look like, here they are. You'll notice "Uncle Herschel," the wooden chair, and the barrel are gone from the logo:

While I'm certainly not a branding expert, one thing I do understand is that if a company is looking to increase revenue, the one thing they shouldn't do is get rid of the things that have been working for them over the years.

Word about the debate surrounding Cracker Barrel's latest moves even made it to the Trump White House, where President Donald Trump himself weighed in on his social media platform, Truth Social, as we also reported:
"Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before," he wrote.
The consummate businessman then offered money-making advice.
"They got a Billion Dollars' worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major News Conference today," added Trump. "Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again."
While he, of course, made some good points, the strawberry on top of the milkshake was the Trump White House releasing its version of the Cracker Barrel logo, which was chef's kiss:
