Thirsty Lincoln Project Founder Simps For Ocasio-Cortez

This is why I call them the “Lincoln Losers.”

In its latest pathetic attempt to maintain a semblance of relevancy, the Lincoln Project reached out to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to propose an alliance. Yes, the organization, which is led by anti-Trump conservatives, desires to link up with a Democratic Socialist to work toward common goals.

Steve Schmidt, a co-founder of the Lincoln Project, posted a Twitter thread on Friday extending an olive branch to AOC, who has been critical of the group in the past. “I would like to officially reach out to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on behalf of the Lincoln Project in defense of democracy,” he began.

He acknowledged that they “disagree on many issues,” but that they could still work together despite their differences. Then, he affirmed the organization’s deep and abiding affection for waitresses. “We disagree on many issues, and that is okay in our view. By the way, we don’t look down on waitresses. We admire them. We are all the type of guys who always tip at 50 percent or more,” he simped.

Then, Schmidt got down to brass tacks. He wrote:

“I have an idea. Let’s approach each other and our points of view with good faith. We say the following with respect and seriousness ma’am. Our hand is open, and we need to work together or we are going to lose America. The fight will last for many years.”

He added, “we are the left and right flanks of a broad coalition. Should we buckle, they will win. We must not. We are together. We pledge to listen. We pledge to learn. We pledge to be open to your ideas, and we pledge to compromise. We have no such offer for the other side.”

Later in the thread, Schmidt engaged in more thirsty simpery as he lavished praise on Ocasio-Cortez. He wrote:

“Know this, since no one asked. We all admire your conviction, integrity and guts. We say the following with respect. Maybe it is the case that we are stronger together. I wish you a Merry Christmas and all of your supporters a happy holiday season.”

You are a living example of democracy and the importance of faith and belief in the system. We are one election away from losing this country to autocrats. We stand with you against that. We hope you will stand with us also.”

Does Schmidt’s wife know what he’s up to on Twitter? Just asking. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thought Schmidt’s entreaty was a bit…odd, pathetic, and creepy.

Writer and podcaster Bridget Phetasy chimed in:

Even Dilbert creator Scott Adams mentioned the embarrassing display in his Periscope livestream:

As of this writing, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has not responded to Schmidt’s earnest, and slightly creepy, offer. But given her previous comments about the Lincoln Project, it doesn’t seem likely that the lawmaker will deign to grasp Schmidt’s sweaty hand of friendship and form an alliance against the evil MAGA horde.

Shortly after Election Day, AOC posted a tweet taking the Lincoln Project to task for its ineffective bid to give key Republican Senate seats to the Democrats. The group had conducted a long and storied ad campaign against President Trump and Republican senators like Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, and others. But the fact that none of the Democrats they supported defeated their GOP opponents revealed how impotent the organization was when it came to influencing the elections.

In a Twitter thread, AOC eviscerated the Lincoln Project, stating that they were in “scam territory” over its promise to convince Republicans to vote for former Vice President Joe Biden. The group raised about $67.4 million, which took resources from other entities that AOC believed to be more effective in earning votes for Biden. “It’s not too late for them to do the right thing. Lincoln Project should take the L and publicly pledge to give a lot of their fundraising to the people who actually made a big difference,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

It seems that the leaders of the Lincoln Project are not willing to admit what everyone else seems to know: They are irrelevant. They burned most of their bridges on the right by turning on the entire conservative movement just because they did not like President Trump.

These people, who have become neocon relics of a bygone era, sneered and mocked the people with whom they claimed to have solidarity. It is hard to see their betrayal as nothing more than jealousy and resentment at the fact that they were exposed and stripped by the populist movement that Trump spawned.

The Lincoln Losers seemed to believe they would have a home on the left if they just played ball. But now that both sides have rejected them, they are essentially homeless. But they shouldn’t expect much sympathy from the right. After all, they asked for this, did they not?
