If you've never heard the word "chud" before, it's an endearing term given to a specific group of people by the left.
If you're someone who discusses culture and has a disdain for the ridiculous woke infection in the entertainment industry, you're likely a chud, too. Where the nickname originated, I'm not sure, but as you'll discover, the left really, really hates the chuds.
Why?
Because they're right, and they're right a lot.
Every time a television show, or something cooked up by a streaming service or big-budget Hollywood studio, is displayed in front of the masses, people watch the previews, the interviews, and the sneak peeks, and can immediately tell you whether or not something is going to bomb because of the same reasons Hollywood has been making their offerings bomb for years now.
These are the same "chuds" that can look at who is helping develop a video game and immediately be able to tell you how awful it's going to be because of certain advisory groups attached to it, or even just by looking at a picture of the staff making the game.
To be clear, chuds aren't "experts" in the professional sense. They're not clairvoyant. They're normal people, and one superpower all normal people have who possess even a modicum of intelligence is pattern recognition.
They can identify the markers of a bad product because they've seen these indicators dozens of times before.
Take the latest offering from James Gunn's DCU, for instance. I've been telling you repeatedly that the film will bomb for various reasons, one of which is that the lead actress, Milly Alcock, is an idiot who, like many Gen Z starlets, can't keep her mouth shut and likes to insult her audience as she's promoting her movie. It's a weird practice to spit in people's faces as you're trying to convince them to pay to see your movie, but here we are... again.
And, of course, I was right. The movie was released, bombed, and to no one's surprise. Even the typical defenders of woke slop couldn't even stomach it.
As my colleague Brad Slager noted in his coverage:
As we covered, projections had been scaled down consistently, from the upper $60 million range, to $50-65 million, and then lower still to a disappointing $40-45 million. As the final weekend results rolled in, it managed to deliver even less. The tally was a woeful $38 million. The only thing left to calculate is just how much money this thing stands to lose for the studio.
With a beefy budget of at least $175 million, and marketing costs on top of that, factoring in the 50 percent split with theaters means this film had to clear probably $425-450 million to break even. As it looks, reaching a global box office total of $200 million is a hopeful expectation.

As President Gandalf Slytherin said back in 1795, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." If you, yourself, saw something that was wholly out of place and kind of bizarre, you'd probably have a hard time not noticing it, and would even likely say something about it. You would have to try very hard to pretend like the thing you're seeing isn't weird, and the more you do that, the more others will start to suspect you're a little off, too.
The "chuds" that the left is so angry about are simply the people who are watching this insanity continue and are calling it out for what it is. They can be accused of hate, sexism, homophobia, or what have you until the koopas come home, but at the end of the day, these are people who are sick of seeing consistent failures, abuse of things they know and love, and ideological intrusion into their escapism.
Half this culture war in the West is unnecessary, and many of these people — such as yours truly — are angry they have to fight it in the first place, but they're making us fight in it and getting mad that we're winning. They want us to sit back and accept the abuse.
That's not happening. The "chuds" will continue to fight and win until this crap stops, which it doesn't look like it will anytime soon.
