If you follow politics closely, you've likely heard the story of Henry Nowak, a young man who was stabbed by a Sikh man named Vickrum Singh Digwa in Southampton, England.
As I reported in late May, Nowak (18) was on his way home when his interaction with Digwa went south, and Digwa stabbed Nowak several times with his 8-inch ceremonial knife. Nowak attempted to flee and left a trail of blood behind him.
When police arrived, they arrested Nowak after Digwa accused him of racism despite Nowak clearly bleeding. He told the police he had been stabbed and said that he couldn't breathe, and the police outright denied his claim, despite the blood, saying, "I don't think you have, mate."
Nowak died there on the sidewalk in police custody, drowning in his own blood as it filled his lungs.

The story has now gone worldwide, prompting intense backlash, not just for the officers or the UK government, but also at the global media for its lack of coverage. The comparison of Nowak's death to George Floyd's has been made many times, with Nowak's death obviously being worse, since Floyd died thanks to an incredible amount of fentanyl in his system, and Nowak died due to suffocation. Both claimed they couldn't breathe, but Nowak's failure to breathe wasn't drug-related.
Nowak died due to actual wounds he suffered that could've been addressed, but weren't because the police didn't act.
Vice President JD Vance also weighed in on this. Posting to X, Vance said something very interesting in his three-paragraph statement:
Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit. Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit. His murder is as tragic as it is enraging. He should still be alive today, and he would be if the last few generations of European elites had stood their ground against the politics of self-hatred and the mass invasion of migrants, many of whom despise the West and the people who love it.
Henry was far from the first to so needlessly lose his life, and I fear he won’t be the last. Each time a life like his is lost, the proper response—the only response—is righteous anger. One of the most important things the Trump administration has proven to the world is that stopping the flow of mass migration and defending national sovereignty is a matter of political will and leadership. Anything else is an excuse.
It is because we love the West that we want to preserve it. We love our civilization. We love our country. We love our children. And nobody—nobody—should ever die the way that Henry Nowak died. May God comfort those who loved him, and may God rest his soul.
Vance is underscoring an issue with Western culture that needs to be addressed.
Many of us, from America to the U.K., are so terrified of being thought of as "racist" that we allow ourselves to get wrapped up in a sort of suicidal empathy. We're literally lying down and allowing others to destroy, murder, rape, and corrupt us out of fear that if we resist, we'll be accused of some sort of social sin.
To be clear, racism is pretty dumb. Someone's skin color doesn't dictate the content of their character, but the fear that you may be thought of as a racist being so overpowering to a culture that they'd invite very real prejudice and self-destruction is actual lunacy.
The anti-racist movement is, ultimately, one of the most racist, bigoted, divisive, and cruel societal trends the Western world has ever had to suffer, and Nowak's unnecessary death is proof positive of this. It shows that our society would rather suffer death and destruction than face reality.
The police who were handling Nowak at the time weren't acting illogically, given the environment they live in. They've seen what happens when police officers are accused of racism in the line of duty, and what goes down when a person with skin more melanated than your standard white person suffers injury or death in the process. They know what kind of punishments await them if they step out of line.
They did Nowak dirty because the alternative was likely a loss of their jobs, their livelihoods, and who knows what else.
Vance is right. We need to defend Western civilization, and it starts with being willing to defend it despite the accusations that will inevitably be leveled at us.
