Imagine having to like or hate someone based on identity and socio-political position.
The left's entire definition of morality is based on these two things, and they cannot — and will not — be convinced to see morality as anything other than these factors. The side that likes to create campaigns like "No H8" is the side that will openly and proudly hate you if you fall under a category to which their side stands opposed.
Everyone must fit into a box. Every box must have a label. And if you're hoping the nuances that come with individuality will keep you out of any of them, then you're sadly mistaken. The very idea of having nuanced opinions will immediately put you in the "must hate" box.
Rusty Weiss dropped an article on Tuesday that I think is actually very, very sad.
Imagine spending your entire life perfecting your abilities within a certain sport. Imagine working hard, day and night, pushing your body and mind to become the best you can be, and you get so good that you go to compete with the best in the world. All your practice, sore muscles, broken bones, hours of your life given to this one thing, pay off, and you beat everyone in the world. You and your team, your brothers in arms, win the top prize, and you celebrate with your country. Your leader calls you to congratulate you.
It should be a moment of glory for everyone, especially the players. We should be basking in the pride of our country.
Yet, a significant portion of your own people hate you. Why?
Because you're the wrong race. You're the wrong gender. You accepted a call from the wrong person. You didn't use your moment that you worked so hard for as a soapbox to preach politics that goes directly against the people you represent. This hatred becomes a topic of discussion across the internet, and as the flame wars rage on, your brightest moment is dampened for what is the stupidest reason the human race can concoct.
This is, sadly, what's happening to the men's USA hockey team, who won the gold, celebrated with FBI Director Kash Patel, got a phone call from President Trump, and demonstrated no concern for the cause du jour of the left as they did it all. They had the spotlight, and instead of bending the knee to the mob, they held up the flag of the United States.
This makes them enemies of the left, who must now minimize and denounce them.
Keep in mind the men's hockey team won for the left too. They are of the USA as well, and their glory is our glory, which is something you'd think the left would be all about, seeing as how they're so into the "warmth of collectivism," but you see the beast in the left shine through here. There can be no glory unless that glory is for them. For their side, their ideology, and their cause.
Any other kind is a threat.
As I wrote on Monday, the left's insane tribalism causes them to reject people for minor socio-political differences and set very high bars for people they consider to be their own. Alysa Liu is a great example of this, as they fought tooth and nail to dissuade conservatives from liking her, and even worked to make them hate her over the idea that she's "woke."

And I feel sorry for Liu for this, in the same way I feel bad for the men's hockey team. The greatest moment of their young adult life is being watered down by the political rigidity of the left. It'd be nice if they would just stop and let people live their lives, enjoy their victories, and just be individuals, but the left's box-based mentality does not allow for this.
You're either useful, or you're a problem.
