Talarico Tries to Stir Up Race War Over Tragic Murder in Desperate Bid for Black Votes

The Democrats have been putting up some seriously weird dudes to represent their party in recent years.

You had Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke, who should have been named Beta O’Rourke because he was so milquetoast, former Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, who mistook predation for masculinity and had to drop out of his race (and disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) resigned for the same reason), and now you’ve got the whacked out Abdul El Sayed running for the Upper Chamber from Michigan. And who can forget Minnesota Gov. “Tampon Tim” Walz?

But if there’s any candidate who epitomizes “weird,” it’s Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, who pretends to like meat for the cameras despite formerly running a “non-meat campaign” in his House race, thinks there are six genders, “hates Christianity,” and is all in on mutilating minors in the name of “gender affirming care.”

Some of his quirks are just fun to laugh at — but others are far more offensive, and this take on the brutal murder of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf by rage-filled teen Karmelo Anthony now goes to the top of the list. The case was not complicated: Karmelo was convicted of murder for stabbing Austin in the heart at a track meet in 2025 after a minor dispute. The facts were clear, and the jury wasted little time in sending Karmelo to the slammer for 35 years.

But to Talarico, appearing on the Breakfast Club podcast earlier this August, all that mattered was race. He isn't interested that it was a murder witnessed by dozens, or that Metcalf was unarmed and totally unprepared for the attack; the only important thing was that he was white and Karmelo is black, and the jury didn’t have any African Americans on it (although there were six minorities out of the 18 total jurors and alternates).

Note that the black population of Collin County, where the case was tried, is approximately 10.8 to 12.1 percent.

Americans of all colors can’t be impartial and judicious? Sounds racist. I seem to remember that the Founders did not require racial tests when they enshrined our jury system in the Constitution.

Great New Ken Paxton Ad: Talarico Too Weird and Radical for Texas

Asked by co-host DJ Envy why he had previously referred to the verdict as a “tragedy,” Talarico immediately worked to fire up the race wars:

I've done a lot of work in the state house on justice reform [codeword for going easy on criminals], and right now, we've got a system that doesn't serve all Americans equally, and we know that black Texans have been, um, have not gotten the justice they deserve, in many cases.

He continued:

And, you know, I'm not an expert on this particular case, but I know that there were no black members of the jury.

Question: If you don’t know that much about the case, why the hell are you making incendiary comments about it? Do your homework first, man.

And to me, that's the only evidence you need to... to really prove that this system is not working for black Texans.

So all the other evidence — Austin bleeding out in his brother’s arms, witnesses describing Karmelo as the aggressor and making threats, Karmelo himself saying, “I’m not alleged. I did it,” the grainy surveillance video capturing the attack — none of that matters to you, James, as you pander for black support, which continues to elude you?

This is a despicable attempt to gin up racial controversy even when the facts clearly prove that it was a surprise attack, and that Karmelo deserves to be behind bars because he committed murder. Talarico doesn’t care that there’s a grieving family left behind and a life that will never be lived.

If it gets him a few more minority votes, it’s all good with him. This tells you all you need to know about James “Six Genders” Talarico.
