Just when you think we're leaving an era behind, some organization has to come in and see to it that you have to suffer through something you clearly don't want a little bit longer.
There's something absolutely enraging about the NFL caving to social justice nonsense, and every time they've done it, the people have punished them for it. When the NFL caved to the Black Lives Matter movement and allowed players to kneel during the National Anthem, it suffered massive ratings losses, with many former viewers still refusing to return.
The league had to try to fill the gap with Taylor Swift fans, which only made things worse. Oddly, the only person who seems to realize Swift's influence isn't wanted by NFL fans across the nation is Taylor Swift, who, to her credit, clowned herself about it recently.
But now the NFL is onto a new way to annoy you in the form of male cheerleaders.

The Patriots seem to have gone off the deep end since Brady left, but losing someone important to you will do that to a person.
The issue is that this isn't just relegated to the Patriots. It would seem many teams are jumping on board with this, including the Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers, the latter of which isn't just letting a homosexual dance with the squad, but includes transgenderism in theirs by bringing back Justine Lindsay

In total, 12 teams are adding male cheerleaders of this kind, according to a report from The Spun:
While the players and coaches are getting ready for the season, so too are the cheerleaders. And that includes the male cheerleaders. In total, 12 teams will reportedly have male cheerleaders on the squad during the 2025 season. This is up from seven teams in 2024, according to Outsports.
According to defenders, male cheerleaders have been a part of the NFL for a very long time, and while this is true, the vast majority have been there as power bases to lift female cheerleaders and help them perform stunts using their strength. No one has ever had a problem with these men being included in the sport of cheerleading, because their inclusion allows for some pretty spectacular feats of strength and agility to happen without resorting to dancing like women.
But defenders, including the NFL teams themselves, want to insult your intelligence by pretending there's no difference between the two.
There absolutely is a difference between male and female dancing, though social-justice-obsessed leftists like to pretend there isn’t. Just as men’s and women’s bodies are built differently, the way they move when dancing is geared to highlight their natural qualities. For women, fluid, hip-centric movements are the norm, while men display more strength and grounded movement. This is true both on the field and in a two-step bar, where women dance to be displayed, and men serve as the displayer by spinning them, guiding them, and helping them maintain balance as they move.
When men begin moving in the same ways women do, with large sweeping movements that utilize the hips, torso, legs, and arms, it looks ridiculous and ventures into the gender uncanny valley. It looks bizarre to the eye, especially to the male eye, which rejects it on an instinctual level unless some psychological rewiring took place long ago.
I've written about this phenomenon at length in the past.

And despite the NFL's best Swift-based efforts, men still primarily dominate the NFL's fanbase. If the point was to appeal to women, it's unclear how this helps, and if it's trying to appeal to the LGBTQ+ crowd, then I've got bad news for the league: The audience isn't exactly swarming with that crowd. Even then, you can't expect every single one of them to feel "represented" by male cheerleaders, who are more of an unpleasant distraction than anything else.
Ultimately, this is just more socio-political nonsense that no one wants or asked for. This feels less like catering to an audience and more like a way for NFL execs and team owners to pat themselves on the back. At some point, something will break as the NFL continues to test the patience of sports fans, and the NFL will find itself with competition that actually sticks.
But hey, at least the Dallas Cowboys aren't budging on this issue. It's about the only thing they're reliable about lately.
You're really testing me, Jerry.
