If you thought the constant climate change alarmism from the mainstream media looked a bit too coordinated and organized then it would appear that your suspicions were, once again, correct.
According to Fox News, the Associated Press took millions of dollars from leftist groups in order to make climate change “reports”:
The Associated Press took $8 million in donations to fund climate coverage in 2022, with the news cooperative and several other major media publications engaged in dubious claims about climate change, according to a new, exclusive year-end report.
The “Climate Fact Check 2022” report, presented by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), the Heartland Institute, the Energy & Environmental Legal Institute, the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), and the International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC), stated that “climate alarmists” and members of the media engaged in claims about the relationship between manmade emissions and natural disasters, claims that clashed with “reality and science.”
In February, the Associated Press admitted that they would assign more than 24 journalists across the globe to cover “climate issues” after receiving more than $8 million over three years from various organizations.
AP News Vice President Brian Carovillano claimed that the money was accepted “without strings attached” from groups such as the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Quadrivium, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Walton Family Foundation, under the guise of “philanthropy-funded news.”
It’s not a claim Steve Milloy, senior legal fellow at the Energy & Environment Legal Institute, is buying. He told Fox News that AP has effectively become a “propaganda outfit” for the left on its climate agendas.
“It’s hard to claim it’s news when you’re being paid to report only one side of the climate discourse,” said Milloy.
The “Climate Fact Check” Report that uncovered the money taken by AP also checked articles by the Washington Post, New York Times, and others.
For instance, the Times reported that a heatwave in Britain was made worse by climate change; however, this is demonstrably false, as heatwaves have dramatically declined in duration over the past 90 years. Washington Post, likewise, made the claim that winters were becoming shorter due to increasing warmth thanks to climate change. This was proven false as in the 1960s, the season began in January; however, it now begins in October.
Milloy noted that the climate hysteria is becoming direr, while their reports become more obviously false.
“Instead of moving on to something else, they’re doubling down on this, and they’re making themselves look worse at the same time,” he said.
Indeed, if legacy media outlets are taking bribes for their reporting, then what they are producing are ads. In this case, the ads are for an agenda that has no basis in science or even reality, for that matter. Moreover, if they are reporting based on money they receive from other organizations, then why should anyone take their reporting seriously?
What is considered “facts” to people like AP and NYT lie with the highest bidder now. If that’s the case, then the actual truth will never be a priority.
The legacy media has definitely taken another hit to its reputation.
