Vice President Kamala Harris was put in charge of securing the border near the beginning of Joe Biden’s time as Presidential seat filler and has managed to do nothing to help it. Since then, the southern border has only gone from bad to worse and thousands of illegal migrants stream across it daily.

It’s apparently gotten so bad that even the leftist media, typically known for running defense for the Democrats, are now openly calling Harris on it. This includes Chuck Todd of “Meet the Press” who actually dared counter Harris’s claim that the border was safe with a simple fact.

“We’re here in Texas, I want to ask you about the border. Would you call the border secure?” asked Todd.

“I think that there is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do. The first request we made, pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship,” Harris said.

Then she actually answered the question with a whopping lie.

“The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” she replied.

“We’re gonna have 2 million people cross this border for the first time ever. You’re confident this border is secure?” Todd responded.

Harris quickly diverted any blame from herself and the Biden administration, claiming that it’s secure “in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration” but blamed Trump and his administration for making the border so insecure that the Biden admin is having to fix it, which is a high-magnitude lie.

Harris then blamed congress and even border states like Texas for not putting together an easier path for citizenship for migrants looking to get in.

We don’t have that in place because people are playing politics in a state like this and in Congress — by the way, you want to talk about bipartisanship, on an issue that at one time was a bipartisan issue. Both in terms of Republican senators and even presidents.”

Border security used to indeed be a bipartisan issue, but the current trend from Democrats is to claim that wanting to close the border and stop illegal migration is racist and xenophobic. During the Trump administration, it was popular for Democrats to claim their cities were “sanctuary cities” and virtue signal that anyone who wanted to deport anyone was evil.

It’s a virtue that Texas Governor Greg Abbott is currently testing now, and it’s safe to say that the Democrats are failing this test.

A good barometer for a Democrat Party failure is how far the press is actually willing to go to support the lie. To be sure, the press has gone to insane lengths to support politicians and protect them and their jobs from the general public, but when the problem gets so bad that it becomes unsafe for the talking head to lie about it, then you know there’s an issue.

This is a strong indicator that the border has become a dangerous issue for the left, and Republicans have one more weakness to highlight for the midterms.
