The Press Can't Handle the Proof of Illegal Alien Voting

Let us briefly recount how the media betters have been lecturing us for some time about the threat of “misinformation” and “disinformation.” It is a democracy-threatening scourge sweeping across social media and corrupting the susceptible minds of naive citizens. The hand-wringing seen from journalists has been enough to spark a campfire in a rain forest. (“Hey guys, it is getting chilly; go tell Brian Stelter a Republican posted a claim on Xitter without offering a link!”)

We now go to New Jersey, where the surprising (for some) news came out that thousands of illegal aliens were discovered to be on the voting rolls. Through the process of issuing driver’s licenses to these individuals — itself a problematic detail — some 6,600 ineligible people were granted the ability to vote. It feeds into the dark irony of being the thing that never happens found to have taken place again.

As this story emerged, we saw the media react in a curious fashion; instead of being energized, or motivated, or even just inquisitive, many a journalist became…bothered by this news.

The reaction from most (that is, normal people) would be concern, getting to the bottom of the story, and then fixing the problem. These are people wholly unqualified to become journalists. The typical reaction across the media landscape has been to become perturbed.

At ABC News, they covered this development on “Good Morning America” and tossed to White House correspondent Mary Bruce. The dependably defensive-for-Democrats Ms. Bruce reported dismissively. She repeated the wan excuse-making from Governor Mikie Sherrill (D), that this was all the work of a computer glitch, in a grand gesture of finger-pointing. (“It’s unacceptable that the vendor released software with such a glaring error, it’s unacceptable that the MVC (Motor Vehicle Commission) took a year to get this issue fixed, and it’s unacceptable that no one in the previous administration brought this to light.”)

Bruce, delivering Sherrill’s excuse in myna bird fashion, was not only lazy, but inept. This “GMA” report was made during the Wednesday morning broadcast, but the night prior, the company being blamed for this development shot the accusation out of the sky, explaining they merely pass on driver information to the elections office, which is responsible for verifying eligibility, which stands up to common sense.

Bruce then goes on to make some hilariously desperate accusations. She invoked the president and basically accused him of impropriety – for noticing the story.

All of this is coming as President Trump is ramping up his unproven claims of widespread election fraud. The president, quick to react to this news out of New Jersey, said the episode underscores the need to pass his SAVE America Act.

She says the claims are “unproven” in her report concerning the actual proof being discovered. This is amazing denialism of the lowest order, but Mary is not alone in this blatant protection racket reporting.

At MS NOW, the ever-adrift Molly Jong-Fast also weighed in on the Jersey chicanery, and sounded even more desperate. She first praised Sherrill for exposing this voting snafu (again, as the governor blamed anyone else), and then she leaned into the president for daring to point out what happened.

The question is, like, does Trump now, and we’re seeing this already, use it to prove a point that doesn’t exist?”

Logic so twisted you need to put salt and mustard on it before consumption. One cannot grasp easily what it takes to see evidence emerging and then declare that it does not stand as proof. To do so on a news network, while posturing as a pundit, is an even more audacious act of mental fracturing. This is a more neutered effort at dispelling interest than Frank Drebin waving his arms in front of an exploding fireworks warehouse.

Joining in on the work of erecting DETOUR signs was CNN’s Jake Tapper. He postured like he was taking a sober look at this voting scandal, and instead of telling us it was not happening directly, he went with a more oblique delivery: Why should any of us think illegal aliens have any interest in voting?!

Jake is seriously trying to act like motivation is indeterminate. Democrats have flung open the border, set up sanctuary cities, and are battling the enforcement of existing immigration laws, but he wants to pretend that he cannot conceive of a reason to vote for more. This is the party, I remind him, that had a clutch of candidates at a debate who all pledged to offer free healthcare for illegals.

The irrationalization here is rather clear. This news reflects poorly on one side, and the data that emerged blasts apart the established narratives. Urgent recalibration is the go-to reaction.

This news proves that, for journalists who fear the negative effects of misinformation, there may be something even more upsetting to them.

Proof.
