There are currently unconfirmed reports of an active shooter at the Russell Senate Office Building. Multiple sources have reported that some people in the building have been told to lock their doors and shelter in place while others have been evacuated.

According to Fox News’ Chad Pergram, the third-floor rotunda was hastily cleared with Capitol Police shouting at people to get down the stairs while they had their rifles at the ready.

The official U.S. Capitol Police X (formerly Twitter) account has been giving instructions.

The latest reports say no shots have been fired, though, which may mean this is a false alarm or hoax call.

It’s simply too early to draw any conclusions as to what exactly is going on. RedState will follow this story and update you as necessary.

UPDATE: It does appear to be a hoax call that set off all the chaos.
