Ron DeSantis has been a fierce conservative warrior since he became governor of Florida in 2019. When the Walt Disney Co. tried to squash him in 2022 with their ill-fated attempt to intervene in state government and shove woke down the throats of residents, he took action and moved to strip them of their long‑standing self‑governing domain, the Reedy Creek Improvement District, and replace it with a board he controlled.
Boom.
During COVID, he was one of my heroes, as he was among the few who stood up to the vaccine/lockdown tyranny. His performance couldn’t have been more stark compared to the insanity that went down in Gavin Newsom's California, where students were shut in at home for two years, and authorities seemed hell-bent on taking the life out of living.
DeSantis has many other feathers in his cap, but during the 2024 presidential election, he took on GOP candidate Donald Trump in the primaries, and things got a little ugly. Trump took to calling him “DeSanctimonious,” and although the governor did not mock him back with any nicknames, he said Trump’s antics were “petty” and “juvenile.”
All that seems to be in the past, however, and if Trump is serious about what he told reporters Friday, Ron might need to scout for residences in D.C.
President Trump implies he’s considering Gov. Ron DeSantis for a Cabinet position.

Trump says, “I like him a lot.”
DeSantis has done great as governor of Florida lately and gone full MAGA with redistricting and other policies.

The president was responding to a question from a reporter outside the White House:
REPORTER: Would you consider Ron DeSantis for a cabinet position?
TRUMP: Well, I like him a lot so… [Crosstalk] I like him lot.

The duo's once-frosty relationship has markedly improved since Trump won the nomination and eventually the presidency:
The ruthless personal attacks that Trump leveled against DeSantis during the primary — including referring to the Florida governor as “Ron DeSanctimonious” — have since given way to kinder regards.
The president declared DeSantis a “10 out of 10 — maybe 9.9,” when touring the Republican governor’s “Alligator Alcatraz” detention facility for illegal immigrants in the Everglades in July.
The Sunshine State will also host the president’s eventual library — and the governor has already signed Florida bills to rename roads and even the airport near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate after him.
DeSantis has been the best Governor I’ve seen in my lifetime. Term is near an end now though so if I’m Trump, I’d replace Alito with DeSantis. Then we get an actual, confirmable, conservative replacement who we don’t have to worry about. He’d do great and be a legendary justice.

I personally would love to see DeSantis play an official role in the administration. I took my family to the Sunshine State during the pandemic because the totalitarian California Democrat machine was literally ruining my kids’ lives and causing them mental health problems. It was like being in a different universe: we could walk around freely, ditch those ludicrous, ineffective masks, and just plain feel free again. Thank you, Gov. DeSantis.
He led when others failed, and it will be interesting to see what he does next.
