After the horrific attack at Brown University on Saturday evening that left two students dead and at least nine injured, there was some relief when authorities reported they had taken a “person of interest” into custody. However, the POI was released soon thereafter after Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said that the evidence “now points in a different direction.”

Now, a frantic manhunt is underway on the Providence, RI, Brown campus and surrounding areas. A short while ago on this Monday afternoon, Rhode Island police issued new video which they hope will help lead to the suspect:

Toward the end of the 19-second clip, what appears to be a man all dressed in black is seen walking calmly down the sidewalk at 4:06 p.m., according to the timestamp. His face is not visible.

Assuming that the timestamp is on Eastern Standard Time, that would mean that the video was taken before the assault, which occurred at around 7:45 p.m. Eastern Time. However, authorities did not address the timeline in their message.

Meanwhile, FBI agents are literally combing through the bushes in search of more evidence:

Investigators on Monday continued to comb through bushes looking for forensic evidence next to the Brown University academic building where the shooting occurred.

At least 20 law-enforcement agents from the FBI were seen outside the Barus and Holley engineering and physics building appearing to be looking for evidence.

Behind the building, several law-enforcement agents were seen standing outside, one with a shovel.

FBI agents were also spotted walking around the building and digging their feet in the snow searching for evidence.

Brown is warning students to remain vigilant, even though they also say that local authorities have advised them that “they do not believe there is any immediate threat to Brown or the local community.” I’m not sure how they came to that conclusion, since there’s a killer on the run, but maybe they have information we don’t know yet.

In their statement, Brown administrators announced that they were cancelling most in-person classes and final exams.

The Providence Police Department is asking anyone with information to go to https://fbi.gov/brownuniversityshooting or call 401-272-3121.

An already heartbreaking story has thus turned more troubling as an unknown murderer is somewhere out there. We continue to pray for the students and their families, and will bring you further updates as new developments arise.
