Some folk are very unhappy with Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter for any crimes he committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.

They’re a group of three former aides and loyalists to former President Barack Obama—Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor—who were often referred to as the “Obama bros” when the trio worked for the White House. 

Speaking on the "Pod Save America" podcast on Tuesday, the bros lashed out at the lame-duck president for declaring for months that he had no intention of pardoning his son. But pardon him, he did. 

(Warning: profanity):

Vietor said he understood Biden's decision on a "human level," but was frustrated that the president had made his defenders within the Democratic Party look "stupid" by reneging on his pledge not to pardon his son.

"Now everyone looks stupid. Everyone looks like they are full of s---," Vietor said.

Note to Vietor: that’s because you are full of it.

And Republicans are going to use this to argue it was politics as usual when Democrats warned of Trump's corruption or threat to the rule or the threat to democracy. And I think that's the piece of this I am most frustrated with, which is Joe Biden looking like a typical, lying politician.

Another note to Vietor: Biden doesn’t look like a typical, lying politician—he is one.

And I think that leads to a cynical feeling that all politicians are bad. They are all the same and that this is just par for the course.

Poor, poor Obama bros.

Biden has ticked off virtually everyone—with the exception of Jill, Hunter, and Hunter’s wife—with this maneuver, and many even on his own side are whining that he just nuked his legacy. (I would argue that his legacy was going to be terrible no matter what, but this makes it that much worse.)

Meanwhile, bro Jon Favreau, the former director of speechwriting for Obama, thought Biden should have pardoned a whole lot of other shady operatives if he was going to shower mercy on his son.

Fellow co-host Jon Favreau called it "most infuriating" that Biden chose to pardon his son and not "a whole bunch of other people who were just government servants doing their job," such as Dr. Anthony Fauci.

You list me there, Jon. The felonious Fauci should be pursued to Dante's ninth circle—and no pardon should ever be given for what he wrought on America.

Favreau said he believed Biden when he said he would not pardon his son and now he felt like a "fool."

"I believed him. I feel like a f---ing fool, that's what makes me mad about it," he admitted.

You should feel like a fool, Jon, because if you were dumb enough to believe the serial-lying president on this one, that’s on you. And this foolish take is yours to own, too:

It’s been so satisfying to watch the liberal meltdown since Donald Trump won the presidential election. It’s hard not to feel a little fuzzy in the heart as the progressive tears erupt and the copium is guzzled. Although Biden’s pardon of Hunter is a corrupt act, especially after lying to the American people over it for so long, it’s nonetheless a bonus to see Progressive World flip out.

As to the Obama bros, I would say: Biden has once again proven himself to be exactly the president you deserve.
