You kind of saw this one coming if you’ve been paying attention to the illegal immigration crisis plaguing the United States. We have a president who all but sends engraved invitations to wannabe border crossers, sanctuary city mayors and governors virtually begging more “undocumented people” to come to their cities, and states offering free services while promising there will be no accountability.

It’s hardly a surprise then, when one California lawmaker came up with the bright idea of offering interest-free, payment-free mortgages to illegal aliens.

I sure wish I could get such a deal, but California long ago stopped caring about its tax-paying citizens and instead has seemingly chosen to exclusively cater to law-breakers, illegals, and the homeless.

Enter Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno), whose Assembly Bill 1840 would offer some sweet terms to illegals:

Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno) introduced Assembly Bill 1840 last month to expand the eligibility requirement for a state loan program to clarify that loans for first-time buyers are available to undocumented immigrants.

The California Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loans program that launched last March by the California Housing Finance Agency offered qualified first-time home buyers with a loan worth up to 20% of the purchase price of a house or condominium. The loans don’t accrue interest or require monthly payments. Instead, when the mortgage is refinanced or the house is sold again, the borrower pays back the original amount of the loan plus 20% of the increase in the home’s value. [Bolding mine.]

Santa Monica ophthalmologist and frequent pundit on Fox News, Houman Hemmati, had thoughts:

This is the time to CUT spending and restrict any remaining spending to ESSENTIAL expenditures, prioritizing tax paying citizens. The entire state government is due for a total reset.

The idea would seem to be wildly unpopular, at least according to this poll:

Every time you think they've reached a new low, they find more gifts and free things to give to illegal aliens. Why bother with this silly mortgage program -- why not just give them houses outright?
