Fired CNN Anchor Don Lemon Says He 'Has No Regrets,' Shows That He's Learned Nothing

Axed CNN network anchor Don Lemon walked the red carpet Wednesday, just two days after his sudden termination, and declared that he had” no regrets” and was “a survivor.”

He was fired from the news network on Monday morning, which was a stunning coincidence because it was the same day that Fox News and powerhouse host Tucker Carlson parted ways for reasons that still aren’t entirely clear. In a jocular interview conducted by Extra TV as the remarkably cheerful Lemon entered the Time 100 gala in New York City, he said he was “surprised” by the firing but wouldn’t do anything differently:

I live my life with no regrets. And whatever I did, I did, and I own, and so no, I don’t look back and I don’t want to change things in the past…

I would love to bring my sister back. But That’s not going to happen. You can’t change, you can’t turn back time, and you can’t go, you know, in the, in the past.

So onward.

There are multiple theories for Lemon’s ousting, including claims of misogyny and of having an egotistical, abrasive manner of dealing with subordinates. He’s also been accused of sexual assault, has gotten drunk on live TV, and has routinely been hostile to his guests. It’s a little surprising, therefore, that he has “no regrets.”

Perhaps he should rethink that one. Instead, he says he’s fine:

There are lots of things that come your way that are unexpected, but I’m a survivor. I come from strong, sturdy stock in Louisiana and a lot of people are rooting for me and who love me.

Life goes on. That’s behind me and we’ll see what happens in the future.

Speaking of the future, what are his plans? He declined to answer the question of whether or not he’d pursue legal action against CNN, saying instead he’s going to chill for the summer:

I’m going to spend my summer on the beach and on the boat and with my family and just chill out and then I’ll see what happens next. But I am fortunate enough to be in a position where I can do that, where I have time I don’t have to rush to another job. If even if I want another job, I do, I want to work again, but I am lucky enough to be in a position where I don’t have to worry about those things.

I am excited for a new chapter.

In a weird way, some conservatives will miss him. His silly antics, degrading treatment of women, and shrill leftist viewpoints gave us ample ammunition, someone to point to and say, “see, this how crazy the left is.” He was living proof that CNN is a shill for the Democratic party and the most Untrusted Name in News. Similarly, liberals are likely to have a “Tucker Carlson vacuum” in their lives—who will they call for to be thrown off the airwaves every morning when they wake up?

That being said, Lemon’s firing was long overdue, and he did everything in his power to deserve it. It’s hard to imagine anyone giving him such a powerful platform again.

We can’t let him leave, though, without first playing some of his all-time greatest hits:
