Well this is truly popcorn worthy—and so early in the day. Longtime CNN host Don Lemon has been let go.

Shocker.

RedState has been on Don Lemon watch for quite some time. The CNN anchor, once one of their fair-haired boys, has exhibited egregious behavior for quite some time now as documented here, here, and here. But of late, he has fallen out of favor with the CNN brass and been called on the carpet for it. It started with this incident, as my colleague Sister Toldjah reported:

Though Don Lemon has been the recipient of some pretty bad press (and deservedly so) over the last six months, he remains front and center as one of a trio of co-hosts for CNN’s low-rated weekday “This Morning” program alongside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins.

Lemon, as RedState readers will recall, landed himself in all kinds of hot water back in February when, during a segment on just-declared GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s call for mental competency tests for candidates over a certain age, Lemon told his fellow anchors that Haley “isn’t in her prime.”

After that incident, more misogyny and patriarchy emitted from Lemon’s mouth and was uncovered and surprisingly covered by other news outlets, as Lemon did his utmost to further alienate his female coworkers and anyone else who dared cross his path, especially the NRA and members of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

But I guess even the fair-haired boys go gray eventually. This morning, we awoke to this Twitter post from Don Lemon, with no explanation other than the screen grab statement:

It reads thusly:

I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned.

Really?! Por que?! Leftist always assume that the same cancel culture climate they encourage is not going to come and bite them in the ass. Welcome to the party, pal.

In Lemon’s typical fashion, he whines and stompy-foots his way through explaining why he was let go.

After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there there are some larger issues at play.

Yeah, they finally had cause to terminate you, and you know CNN Legal worked hard to cover themselves. So, don’t expect any discrimination suits to be filed.

With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them the best.

Lemon should have led with that. The former anchor joins the ranks of Brian Stelter and Chris Cuomo in exiting the network in an unceremonious fashion. No one will miss him, and it’s doubtful he’ll get a plum spot anywhere else.

The times, they are a changin’ — and have changed.

Now that Tucker is gone, maybe Fox News will hire him.
