NBC News Puff Piece on Abrego Garcia Facing Deportation to Uganda Is Something Else

There are times when the legacy media manages to reach such an unbelievable low, it boggles the mind. A new story on Saturday, following news about the alleged MS-13 gang member and human trafficker, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, fits that description to a tee.

As my colleague Teri Christoph wrote in a piece on Friday, a Tennessee judge ordered Abrego Garcia to be released from prison there, with his next move expected to be Maryland:

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran illegal who captured the hearts of the Democrat Party earlier this year after he was sent by the Trump administration to his home country's infamous CECOT prison, was released from custody in Tennessee Friday and is reportedly making his way to Maryland. After being returned to the United States at the behest of U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, Abrego Garcia was imprisoned on human trafficking charges.

...

In preparing for their client's release, his legal team revealed they had hired a private security firm with "experience providing court-approved pre-trial transportation and security services in criminal cases" to escort him back to Maryland. They are clearly worried about federal law enforcement officials returning Abrego Garcia to federal custody.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has previously stated that, should he be convicted on the human smuggling charges, Abrego Garcia will first serve his prison sentence and then be deported.

Later in the afternoon, we reported that there was a major plot twist in the story:

According to immigration reporter Bill Melugin, the ICE is already moving to not only detain Abrego Garcia, but to deport him to Uganda.

...

Why Uganda? Because it's one of the third-party countries that has agreed to take illegal immigrants from America, an operation recently blessed by the Supreme Court as legal. That means that while Abrego Garcia can't be sent back to El Salvador because he has a non-removal order for that specific country, he can be sent to Uganda.

As Bonchie shared, Melugin wrote in an X post: "Per DHS & ICE sources, this afternoon, DHS notified Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s counsel via email that ICE may deport Abrego Garcia to Uganda 'no earlier than 72 hours from now', & ICE is also ordering him to report to ICE’s Baltimore office on Monday."

Plot Twist: Illegal Immigrant Abrego Garcia Gets Some Very Bad News After Being Released From Jail

Early Saturday, NBC News, in an apparent race to the bottom, published a puff piece on Abrego Garcia, complete with activist organization-snapped photos of his joyful reunion with his family members, and it couldn't be more one-sided if they tried:

On Friday, Abrego was released on parole from the jail where he was held, near Nashville, Tennessee, and immediately returned to Maryland. He was reunited with his family after spending nearly half a year away from home.

Images of the reunification, released by advocates, show a teary-eyed Abrego holding his youngest son, who was with his father when Abrego was picked up by immigration authorities in March.

"Today has been a very special day because I have seen my family for the first time in more than 160 days," he said in a statement on Friday.

They refer to the statement from the White House in the wake of the news of his release as berating Abrego Garcia, "accusing" him of being in Venezuelan gang, MS-13:

The White House continued to berate Abrego on Friday, accusing him of being a violent gang member.

"He will face justice for his crimes. It’s an insult to his victims that this left-wing magistrate intervened to put him back on the streets," White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement. "Garcia will be subject to ankle monitoring to ensure the safety of the American public until further action can be taken."

Notice also their gratuitous use of the word "Breaking" in the headline for a story that broke on Friday afternoon.

Anyway, here's NBC News' attempt at journalism in their lede:

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the man who was wrongfully deported to a high-security prison in El Salvador, was notified by immigration authorities that he may be deported to Uganda, less than 24 hours after his release from federal custody.

Abrego "may be removed to Uganda no less than 72 hours absent weekends," a source familiar with the case told NBC News on Saturday. It is unclear if Abrego would be imprisoned or walk free in Uganda if he is deported there.

That last sentence alone reveals the level of journalism involved is slim to none. Do they think he's won a vacation trip or something?

The legacy media is showing us that it does not have a basement when it comes to carrying water for illegal alien criminals like this and their activist enablers, regardless of the facts or Americans' safety. While it's not unexpected, given their track record, this stunt by NBC is something else.
