Details are sketchy as the only information made available thus far comes from early news reports but Houston police arrested a man, and when they searched his hotel room, they found the makings of a possible disaster.
Here are the tweets from Jacob Rascon, a reporter with a local Houston television station:
Man in custody after Houston police find AR-15, shotgun, handgun and “lots of ammmo” inside his hotel room, on 28th floor of Houston Hyatt Regency, overlooking planned New Year’s celebration. His truck, with paper plates, found and towed.

Police initially planned to arrest the man for disorderly conduct. Hotel staff said he was drunk at the bar, and refused to leave. Officers and staff found the weapons and ammo when they went into his room to grab his belongings.

Some more info from The Houston Chronicle:
Investigators are waiting to talk to the unruly guest and figure out why he showed up to the hotel with multiple guns. He’s facing charges of trespassing and unlawful carry.
“He’s intoxicated so they won’t be able to interview him till he’s sobered up a bit,” Lt. Gordon MacIntosh said early Sunday.
Authorities didn’t immediately release the man’s name, but said they’d found and towed his truck to look for more weapons.
The hotel’s massive 50,000-balloon drop for New Year’s Eve is still on, according to a hotel employee.
We’ll provide updates if any materialize.
