I think I should....write....this...sentence....as....slowly....as.... California's.... ridiculous....high-speed....railroad....is....being....built.
The California vote on the bond issue to build a new high-speed rail line from San Francisco to San Diego, some 500 miles, came in 2008. The line was to be completed within 10 years and carry millions of passengers at reasonable rates and convenient times, reducing air pollution and travel times at 220 miles an hour.
NEWS FLASH: Now, 18 years later, not one inch of track has been laid.
It's a classic example of the pie-in-the-sky ideas of California's currently dominant Democrat Party and the inability of that party's successive administrations to fulfill anything about the idea — except balloon the project's costs to nearly 10 times the original quote. They're very good at the spending part, though.

Because government there sees a need to control how locals buy food to eat elsewhere.
