The Democrat elites have decided to make ICE the center of their midterm campaigns:
Across the country, Democratic candidates are expressing horror at Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s tactics and ratcheting up calls to restrict the agency’s reach in the wake of Good’s killing and other dramatic ICE escalations. But even as public outcry has Democrats shifting out of the defensive crouch on immigration they took following President Donald Trump’s 2024 victory, old intraparty fissures about whether to rein in, defund or abolish ICE have roared back to the fore in key Democratic primaries.
The ICE “tactics” that the Democrat elites are “expressing horror” at are, of course, ICE simply acting to enforce the settled law regarding illegal aliens - to remove them from the U.S. and deport them to their home countries. There is nothing particularly unusual or extreme about any of these ICE tactics, either. They are normal police tactics.
Just watch a few old episodes of Law and Order if you don’t believe me.
Not even the sad death of the woman in Minnesota is unprecedented. Ms. Renee Good was a left-wing radical, working in tandem with organized groups, who was using her car to block ICE agents. When she was confronted by those agents, she dangerously decided to use her car to drive into one of them. (Just look at the video.) This led the agent to shoot her in self-defense as she hit him. And we know this is true because the agent reportedly had internal injuries.
A car is a deadly weapon, and a person trying to strike an ordinary cop with one might have experienced the very same deadly consequence. And the cop would not be prosecuted for this.
The only thing that is unusual and disturbing in this situation is the unrelenting theme of resistance, the anger, and the violence coming from the Democrats and their activists in opposition to ICE and the Trump administration.
Repeatedly, prominent Democrat public officials and party leaders like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have portrayed ICE as a “Gestapo” that is the tool of President Trump, who is an “authoritarian” or a “dictator," in their view. One prominent U.S. Senator, Chris Van Hollen (MD), has claimed that ICE is “lawless,” while another prominent Senator, Ruben Gallego (AZ), has said, “ICE needs to be torn down.”
All over the internet, I am blitzed with Democrat ads by officials – such as Sen. Mark Kelly (AZ), who was earlier part of the ‘Seditious Six’ that issued a video demanding that military personnel refuse to obey Trump administration orders – begging for donations to “fight” the "evil" Trump administration. Juan Williams, long-time left-wing talking head, is pushing a plan to “fight” ICE for its "reckless" and "unjustifiable" killing, and is also claiming that the president is trying “to scare people into silence to halt rising dissent.”
As a result, the ordinary Democrats have been whipped into a frenzy of hate. I have seen it recently in spades from some of my Democrat relatives/friends; you probably have as well. We have all seen this in Minnesota, where left-wing rioters invaded a church and intimidated its parishioners to protest ICE, which in turn has prompted a DOJ investigation.
It is important to keep a little perspective here. Let’s assume that we have an illegal alien and that this alien has committed no other crime except to enter the country illegally. He has not committed other crimes, such as murder, rape, or anything else. (Unfortunately, some illegal aliens commit multiple crimes after they enter the country.)
He is just working in the U.S. and sending home part of his paycheck to his family in his home country. So, what is “evil” ICE really doing to him, at the direction of Donald Trump? ICE is arresting him. But not for him to be imprisoned for long periods of time (unless the courts get involved at the behest of the Democrats). Unlike what is done to ordinary criminals, this alien is merely going to be shipped back to his home country. And contrary to the silly left-wing propaganda, there is no torture involved.
It should also be kept in mind that most of the laws being enforced by ICE were passed by prior administrations, so the Trump administration is not mandating this on its own. They are just following the law.
For the Democrat elites to portray this situation as identical to what happens to dissidents in dictatorships, most especially in Nazi Germany, is incredibly dishonest and unbelievably disrespectful to the real victims of those dictatorships, who often were imprisoned for great lengths of time, tortured, or even murdered.
But it is very clear that the Democrat elites are not going to stop any time soon. Many of the more cynical among them are hoping that the less-informed public will get tired of the Democrat-created mayhem and blame Donald Trump/the GOP for it in 2026. Many of them also want the votes the illegals can provide. Other Democrats just hate Donald Trump and the GOP and automatically oppose anything they support. And the Minnesota Democrats, led by Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have a personal reason – they are afraid of being blamed for the huge Somali-led fraud that may have cost the taxpayers $9 billion, so they need a good diversion.
As I wrote before, the Democrat elites are certainly not helping us “keep” our Republic. We haven’t seen such misbehavior from them since the 1840’s – 1860’s, when they also pushed disunity and states’ rights.
That didn’t turn out well for anyone, as you may have heard.
