With just three weeks to go, Sen. Ted Cruz has an insurmountable lead on challenger Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke in the latest poll commissioned by CNN.

In the poll taken from October 9 thru 13, Cruz has a comfortable 7-point lead over O’Rourke.

That banging noise you hear is just the sound of the coffin encasing Beto O’Rourke’s bid for the Senate being nailed shut.

The poll also includes Texas Governor Gregg Abbott with a double-digit lead of 18 points over Democratic challenger, Lupe Valdez. With Cruz gaining in recent weeks, along with Abbott’s popularity and voter’s habit of not splitting their ticket, it’s looking fairly certain Texas won’t be electing a Democrat in a statewide race in 2018.

The pair will be debating in O’Rourke’s hometown of El Paso Tuesday night.
