Remember what they say about birds of a feather? Well, a certain very red bird in New York, who happens to be the mayor, is showing his true colors - Soviet red - in a recent endorsement for New York's 13th Congressional District. Not the comfortably placed Democrat incumbent, Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), who, in that district, could win forever and a day. Nope; the commie mayor is instead endorsing his "Democratic Socialist" comrade, one Darializa Avila Chevalier.
This is a person who thinks Bernie Sanders is too far to the right for comfort.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has launched a civil war in the Democratic Party with his controversial endorsement of a fellow socialist’s bid to oust incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat, insiders said Monday.
Mamdani’s decision to support fellow Democratic Socialists of America insurgent Darializa Avila Chevalier in the June 23 primary for the northern Manhattan/Bronx House 13th House District is part of a long-term effort by him and fellow socialists to take control of the Democratic Party, sources said.
He can support who he likes, of course, but the person he's supporting... Well, she's a nut.
Avila Chevalier has blasted cops, establishments Democrats and even once called the US “a f—king disgrace” in social media posts.
She called former President Joe Biden a “rapist” and “war criminal” when he ran for the Oval Office in 2020 and even slammed lefty hero, Sen. Bernie Sanders, for his “liberal Zionism” after he voted present on Israeli military funding.
“I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me,” she posted online in 2019 along with a smiling face emoji.
This is not a person that should be within a hundred miles of the House of Representatives - statute or nautical, pick one.

NYC Mayor Mamdani Will Not Attend Israel Day Parade - Is Anyone Really Surprised?
Now, here's the fun part. NY-13 is an urban New York City district, mostly in the Bronx. In the 2024 election, this district voted against Donald Trump by a four-to-one margin. In the Senate race, Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand swept aside Republican Mike Sapraicone by an even wider margin, 83 to 16. This is as deep blue as any district in the nation. But could there be an opportunity, albeit a rather unlikely one? Nah. Not in this district. For one thing, only Democrats (and the one communist running as a Democrat) are running.
There are two other candidates on the slate for the June 23rd primary. Besides the incumbent, Adriano Espaillat, and the communist, Darializa Avila Chevalier, there are two long-shots: Oscar J. Romero Jr. and Theo Bruce Chino-Tavarez. And, let's face it, odds would seem to be heavily in favor of the incumbent. The one poll that appears to be available now, by Upswing Research, has Adriano Espaillat leading the communist by 14 points, and it was Chevalier's campaign that commissioned the poll.
Mamdani's endorsement probably won't swing this particular needle any. What it is doing is causing some New York Democrats in more vulnerable districts to start with the rending of garments and gnashing of teeth. The Mayor of New York City's word, after all, still carries some weight - and if he keeps endorsing commies, he may end up doing the New York state Democrats more harm than good.
We can hope so, anyway.
Editor’s Note: New York City is now facing the consequences of Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s socialist takeover.
