Trump Ultimatum: Make a Deal Now or Bombing Resumes

The situation between Iran and the United States seems to be something of a standoff at the moment. But Iran should be realizing, pretty soon now, that it only seems that way.

That moment may be coming soon. On Wednesday, President Trump took to his Truth Social platform to issue a stark warning to Iran: Take a deal, or get bombed even further into the Stone Age.

The president writes:

Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran. If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Deal with Trump today, or deal with attacks with a new ferocity: That's the clear message. And Iran needs to figure out, pretty soon now, that they have nothing left to bargain with. No chips, no cards, no tokens, no nothing, no kidding.

This has been a costly prospect, and it has gone on longer than one might have expected; some of the statements from the administration are showing some increasing frustration with Iran. Iran has insisted on ridiculous conditions, like control of the Strait of Hormuz; they are resisting surrendering their nuclear material and shutting down nuclear development. The mullahs and their minions are, at some point, going to have to understand that they just can't have those things.

The question is this: What is there left for the United States to bomb? Well, there's one obvious answer: Iran's oil and natural gas fields and infrastructure. But there's a serious risk involved in that tactic. Not only will it send oil prices to dizzying new heights, not only will it send American gasoline and diesel prices even higher with the summer vacation season on the horizon, but it will also remove any future, post-mullah Iran's primary source of income. Rebuilding Iran after this will be expensive, and without their oil and gas exports, Iran may be mired in serious depression for a decade or more.

That's not a recipe for a stable nation.

The primary goal of this operation was to defang Iran, to delete its conventional military, and to prevent Iran from ever achieving a nuclear weapon. The first of those goals has been achieved. Iran's conventional military has been reduced to the level of a mob of AK-carrying bandits. If there is ever a new Iranian navy, they will have to install glass bottoms in their ships if they ever want to see the old Iranian navy. Their air force is now widely scattered spare parts. Much of the regime's military leadership, likewise. But the nuclear program, which seems to still be a sticking point in the negotiations, and whatever Iran agrees to, if the current regime stays in place, they won't keep their word. They just won't. They never have, and they never will.

We were hoping that by now there would be a more vigorous popular uprising of the Iranian people. But the regime has already killed, by all reports, as many as 30,000 protestors. They are willing to use mass murder to keep control, and that's a hard thing for a disarmed population to face.

However this thing ends, it's looking increasingly unlikely that it will end with a negotiated peace deal.

Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
